rayzor
He was just signed to a one year deal. I thought he might have been an impactful player for them. He was reportedly taking a month away for personal reasons. He's still only 26.

Rangers9
He knows Watson can play within their offense and probably didn't think ASJ would work out. It didn't last long.

ASJ is a good player but there has to be more to the situation. Maybe they already know the Gronk retirement is almost over.

32EBoozer
Just for Farts & Giggles .........I found this while reading an article on ASJ and Ben Watson. Is Lil' Bill able to fire himself? Almost as bad as MacDaddy! The 13 worst draft picks under Bill Belichick 56SHARES SHARE TWEET EMAIL By: Henry McKenna | April 25, 2019 12:25 pm ET Bill Belichick is known for doing just about everything right when it comes to the NFL. But even the New England Patriots coach and general manager can’t hit on every draft selection he’s every made. The nature of the draft is that it produces busts just as often as it produces pleasant surprises. And while Belichick has had his fair share of pleasant surprises, here’s a look at some of the draft prospects who have not panned out under Belichick’s tenure as coach of the Patriots. 13. Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota First round, 21st overall, 2006 12. Cyrus Jones, CB, Alabama Second round, 60th overall, 2016 11. Taylor Price, WR, Ohio Third round, 90th overall, 2010 10. Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas Third round, 90th overall, 2012 9. Kevin O'Connell, QB, San Diego State Third round, 94th overall, 2008 8. Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall Second round, 59th overall, 2013 7. Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida Second round, 53rd overall, 2010 6. Marquise Hill, DE, LSU Second round, 63rd overall, 2004 5. Terrence Wheatley, CB, Colorado Second round, 62nd overall, 2008 4. Ron Brace, DL, Boston College Second round, 40th overall, 2009 3. Dominique Easley, DE, Florida First round, 29th overall, 2014 2. Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia Third round, 33rd overall, 2011 1. Chad Jackson, WR, Florida Second round, 36th overall, 2006

Same thing they did with LaMont Jordan, Victor Hobson, Chris Baker, etc. There always seems to be a portion of the fanbase who thinks every castoff from the Jets is suddenly going to tear the league a new a$$hole once they join New England.

NYJ1
Truth be told, Bellichick sucks at drafting. He pulled Brady out of his ass and he's had pleasant surprised along the way. His success is very much weighted by plenty of poor choices. Bellichick should NEVER be any teams choice as GM. Baltimore, on the other hand, that's a team that seemingly always drafts well. I'd like a GM that drafts as well as Ozzie Newsome and Erik Decosta. That's a blueprint for success.
