Should I start another thread?

Jaguars reach deal with receiver Terrelle Pryor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars signed receiver Terrelle Pryor on Monday morning, adding another player with questions to a position group that has few certainties.

Pryor -- who has 115 catches for 1,563 yards and seven touchdowns in six seasons -- is the second-most-experienced receiver on the Jaguars' roster. Only Marqise Lee, who missed the 2018 season after suffering a knee injury in the preseason, has more catches (171).

He was good his first year. Was a bit of a surprise when he retired during the season last year.

Iirc, they hinted at him being a pain in the ass in Seattle and that’s why they were trying to trade him for two years.

Never understood what really happened with him.  He's nothing spectacular but we were pretty thin at WR last year and he seemed to be at least developing some rapport with Sam.  Not a huge loss but still seemed like he could've been a useful piece last year when we moved on.

It definitely was odd.  But the Bills didn't care to hold on to him either.  I suspect that he is a hard guy to deal with.

You’ve gone from best poster here to best poster here with a slightly smaller insurmountable lead over the pack the last 24 hours. Another hibernation to refuel your mitochondria in order?

Was toast after the home opener when he quit on the crossing route vs the Dolphins, leading to an end zone int.To his credit, admitted it after game.

It was much less good than advertised, and we got somewhat lucky.  The Kearse piece was actually us paying Seattle in 'value' to take him off the roster b/c they didn't want his overpriced contract.  The Richardson part was actually the equivalent of a late 3rd pick in draft value (we swapped late round picks).

Kearse played really well that first season b/c he was slighted, but his salary was definitely a net negative last season.  So it's a wash.  End of the day, we got about expected value from the trade (Richardson for a late 3), which we would have got anyway in comp draft value.  Meanwhile Sheldon has been average on the teams he's been on (i'm not entirely sure what happened to that guy, he was so good his first two years).

So it's a whole lot of meh at the end of the day.

No, the Jets got a second, not a third along with Kearse.  And the comp was in no way what people here were saying we would get for "a lazy, malcontent, locker room cancer.

One of the 2s that we used to ultimately get Darnold.

Kearse wasn't bad his first year. Richardson hasn't been good either year. The Macc heist is the reason darnold is on our team right now. If darnold is as good as we all hope he is then this was a great trade. If not we swapped bums and picked up a draft pick.

You are dramatically underrating Richardson.  He earned an $8M contract off his performance in Seattle and 3/$37M off Minnesota.  Kearse has been an inconsistent, unreliable WR for his entire career and the Lions just signed him for $1.35M with a chance to earn another $1M.  They are not in the same stratosphere as players.

Here is a snarky fact for insertion, should anyone so choose.  Sheldon Richardson  has as many interceptions in the years since he left the Jets as Jamal Adams.

For whatever reason, he never developed chemistry with Sammy? Really find it ridiculous also? Jermaine Kearse is an outstanding receiver. That's one that will always confuse me.

Jamal Adams plays a position where he should not be a turnover machine. Over the last two years Adams has had as many sacks as Richardson which is the stat that should be important for Sheldon.

Nope, not in net value!  The 2 we got was a late round pick, b/c of Seattles record.  We swapped 7th rounders (which is like a late six for a late 7). That's 14 points in standard trade value off the chart.  The pushes our late 2 value well into low to mid 3rd round range.  The addition of Kearse (which was viewed as a negative) was us moving a few places lower in the third.  This is just how GM's think in this league.  It's all translated into net draft value.

Dude' we traded Sheldon for a 2nd and Kearney and swapped 7ths.  We traded that second in the Darnold move up.  Not a third, not a net value.

@Hael‘s right. It was the trade value of a late 3rd. If it was a 2nd there wouldn’t have been a full season where we had neither Richardson nor the new draftee.

If we got a 2nd at that time it’d have been a 2nd rounder that same year. A 2nd rounder you can draft/use now is not the same trade value as one you don’t get until a year later.

Seattle made the calculation that Richardson would be a high priced UFA a year later and figured they’d recoup a 3rd round comp pick for him a year later. From their standpoint they were getting a 1 year $8MM rental for a player who’d cost more to replace on the FA market, and the cost for that was giving up a late 2nd rounder a year later & get back a late 3rd a year after that. (Kearse was a throw-in since they were going to cut him anyway.) They were legit SB contenders when they made the trade and it was pretty low risk high reward for them.

As it turned out they had a worse season than expected and Richardson didn’t get a mammoth sized deal that’d get them that 3rd rounder in return.

The trade was perfectly fine, but it was more Seattle unexpectedly rescuing our idiot GM from his own stupidity, not him being shrewd for holding onto 3 starting DTs for 2 years.

3yrs with the files then how did he get to sign with the browns? Not to be snarky but he signed a one yr deal wit h the vikes and then a 3yr deal with the browns. And Adams has more aQB pressures and one less sack then to agree on last yr

Fine looking physical specimen, though.  Looks like this dawg won't hunt...  😀
