The SAR I curse.  Includes Catanzaro as part of his outlandish prediction.  Catanzaro gets cut less than 2 months later.

Bertolet gets hurt Week 14 and Catanzaro comes out of retirement to be the hero.

I love it when people who can’t afford a decent time machine question those of us who can.

Gotta admit I didn't read the whole thread but I have to say winning the division? This year? Hell a couple weeks ago 8-8 was considered a remarkable achievement for 2019. IMO it would be. Doubling your win total from the year before is quite impressive especially with the Jets schedule.

I expect Darnold to progress but those thinking he is going have a "Mahomes Like" second year are in for a rude awakening. Sam simply does not have the weapons that Mahomes did last season. Yes they have Bell but after that our skill guys are average to below average until proven otherwise. No I don't see them winning double digit games this year. Not with the guys we have on Offense. Don't get me wrong I would ecstatic if they did but realistically I don't see it.

The Jets 2019 Schedule:

5 games against playoff teams.

11 games against non-playoff teams.

10 games against teams with losing records.

3 games against teams with clearly superior head coaches.

3 games against teams with terrifying quarterbacks.

2 games against teams with terrifying running backs.

1 game against a team with a terrifying defense (if that).

0 games in oppressive Florida weather.

0 games in West Coast time zones.

0 games in noisy domes.

1 challenging back-to-back road game combo.

This schedule isn't tough.  If we play to our potential, there are 10 losers out there to beat and only 1 or 2 upsets needed to win the division.  It's the easiest schedule from a competitive, travel, and sequencing standpoint that I can remember in the last 15 years.

How?

Tell me the 9 games minimum they win.

waiting........

I was kissing up/being nice. Dont'  bother me.  Like I said. The best they get is a first round  loss. That means I expect  them to not even get THAT  :)

But they can make Darnold  a one hit wonder like Goff. And next year it will be.. what  happened?  I thought he was good?

I think our offense is going to be prolific, like the best in modern Jets history.  More air TD's than Fitzpatrick (31).  More ground TD's than Jones (14).

I think our defense is going to surprise people because we are strong up front and down the middle and as such compensate for our weaknesses at corner.  We simply don't play quarterbacks or running backs that are terrifying.  They throw the short stuff and we'll be good against the short stuff.

And do not underestimate the importance of coaching.  I don't think I need to type another sentence on this topic.  Just two words.  Gase.  Gregg.

If we get off to a 2-0 start, 11-5 is happening.

Sunshine SAR is a schtick.  Hes not putting money on this.  Hahahaha.

Nothing I post is schtick.  It's just a contrary opinion that you find unbelievable when others don't.

Most "experts" say our ceiling is 9 wins.  So what's 11?  Just two games where we pull off an unexpected upset.  Split with the Pats.  Sweep the Bills and Dolphins.  Eke out a win over the Eagles or Cowboys or Ravens.

If Gase and Williams coach the way I think they will and Darnold and Bell and Crowder play like I think they will, scoring points and lowering penalty yardage are a given.  So it boils down to Gregg's defense.  And I believe in Gregg's defense.

I think the Jets at least earn a spot to lose in the first  round.

Yes.  I don't expect much once we're in the playoffs.  But I do expect us to make the playoffs.  The Steelers game is going to be electric.  Can't wait.

People forget what this team did to the Colts and Broncos last year.  Our schedule is filled with the likes of those teams this year.  And we're slightly better methinks.

Sweep the Bills, sweep the Dolphins, split with the Patriots.

That's 5.

Beat the Browns, Raiders, and Giants at home.

That's 8.

Beat the Bengals or Jaguars on the road.

There's your 9.

Split the Cowboys/Redskins, split the Steelers/Ravens.

There's my 11.

Yup.  And I'm not bullish on the Steelers either.  I think Big Ben without those major weapons and a year older is 6-10 waiting to happen.

We just need the Steelers to start hot against the notoriously slow Patriots. Be nice to be in 1st place in the AFC East for a week. Lol.

Redskins will be better than 1 win, I don't think anyone in the NFCe has been a sub 4 win season on any consistent basis however the Redskins have been a split type team in the division for a long time, since their 3 Lombardi trophies. NFCe toughest division in football over time and now back on the uptick.
