too many natives still think NYC is the center of the universe - maybe for a minute ~50 years ago but now closer to third world for those who travel and/or have lived elsewhere

Seems like y'all can be a crotchety bunch.  ?

Only the Yankees give NY a reason to cheer and be optimistic. Sometimes the NY football Giants do but I can't stand the G-Men with Elroy Jetson at QB. The Knicks blow, the Rangers are riding a see saw, up and down. The Nets - are they still in NY? - stink and so do the Mets. With all that said, all I can say is Let's Go Yankees!!!

+Rep farming again, are we?

Describing John McCown's career accurately is not remotely the same as 40,000 NY'ers booing a 21 year old kid who just showed up in town and had no control over who and where he was picked. ?‍♂️

Boooooooooo farming ^

Oh and 40,000 NYers?  Yankee stadium is literally 2 miles from NJ and 30 minutes from CT.

Yankee fans are horrible people, in general. The original Pats fan.

Moonlighted at both Yankee & Shea stadiums as a guard for years and Yankee Fans were the most entitled scumbag Fans I have ever come across. They would say stuff like "It's okay I'm a Season Ticket holder". This was when they were caught doing something like tooting up in the bathroom or getting high on one of the outer ramps. I would always answer "So you're a Season Ticket holder huh"? They would reply smugly,"Yeah that's right". My answer was "Not after this you aren't". Then I would calmly open my Uniform Blouse and show them my NY Met t-shirt underneath as I escorted them out of the Stadium. Fun Times.

I could not agree more. I was an easy spot for anyone anywhere when I was a NY/NJ native. I usually had some sort of Ny item on my person and was proudly a decibel louder than most. Outside of Boston that is. Those friggin people. lol

When I left and drove across the country for a month to live in LA I realized how most of the country views the NYC bubble. Let’s just say it’s not the same wayNew Yorkers view it. Getting out of there enables you to see it from a different perspective. I’ve lived all over this great country and have seen NY through many different lenses.
It’s got a lot to admire but it’s not the center of the universe as it degrades into a soot covered swamp.

What has he done for the Giants?

At this point hes a JAG.

A well paid JAG.

A kid who hasnt won a game being paid millions.

He doesnt deserve to be cheered.

NY'rs, ugh

When you think youre being smart making light of someones career at his retirement announcement its the same.

Both were uncalled for.  You just cant seem to get that.

He's not introduced to a chorus of boos at baseball games, hes actually a fan favorite,  and at this point it's his oversized ego and self promotion that warrants online trolling.

What fans at Yankee Stadium did was pretty low class but let's not say they (we're) the worst fans on the planet.  I just think that many of us are suffering from Boston-Envy right now.  Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey fans in beantown are in all their glory and for the most part most of our teams are not very good and our frustration level has boiled over.  I think it's that simple.

Lastly, let's not feel too too sorry for Daniel Jones.  He's young, good looking, a millionaire and the future QB of the NY Giants.  Poor guy.

It's interesting the perspective you get on NY once you've left it behind, and especially when you travel the world more broadly.

The Queen's English truly is beautiful.

Maybe its New Yorkers in general :)

True story....Worked in Banff for many years at the Banff Springs Hotel as a bartender.  You could ALWAYS spot the NYC'ers.

One day, someone was sitting in the main lounge looking out the window, complaining how sick they were of the view, and couldn't WAIT to get back to the city (NYC).  Here was their view:

Never understood people from NYC after that.  Maybe I'm missing something.

Okay, consider this your first warning. :)

Chicago and NY compete for pizza (both are very good IMHO and better than anywhere else on this planet), Chinese food is better in NY, Steaks are better in Chicago unless you like chewy fat "more flavorful" steaks in NY LOL, Italian food is close with amazing traditional places in both cities, Chicago wins BBQ and has more variety with hot dogs but nothing like a dog from a street vendor in NYC with sauerkraut and chestnuts in the winter from the same vendor (sadly almost a lost art these days)

NY is closer to the ocean for seafood but not sure anyone wants to eat from the polluted waters around NY so it's all from a plane unless  you are way out on the island
