This is why people get shot.

This is why people rightfully get  shot (the taser was about as effective as a mosquito bite), if it’s a choice between the cop going home to his wife and kids or ending up at a bagpipe ceremony with 1000 of his closest brethren, blast away and ask questions later.

Of course politicians will exploit it for their own agenda.

Sickening.

A taser doesn’t work good when a person has on a bunch of layers.

Pepper spray gets the user almost as often as the other person and taser suck. They need a more effective non lethal option.

I watched it with the volume off the first time. Didn’t even realize he shot his taser.?

That’s one brave and patient cop.

Makes sense. Never thought about that before though. That taser didn’t effect him at all. He was in a tough situation. Guy was twice his size and likely drunk. And he was on his own for most of the ordeal.

IMO,  cops only mistake was when he realized the guy was so big, drunk, and belligerent, he should have called for back up right away.

I agree. Sounded like he called for backup while he was wrestling him to the floor. Seems kind of late to me. Unless I missed something.

McDowell was charged with two counts of felony assaulting and resisting, a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and a misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license.

Think he deserves every bit of this.  Normal person would get at least a year in jail, lets see how this plays out

Can’t see how the two misdemeanors don’t stick plus the felony resistant arrest. Those seem cut and dry. The felony assault seems like it’ll stick as well since he charged the police officer. I’ll let the experts debate though.

The fact that who you are effects your sentencing is a major issue. Need set sentencing for set crimes.

You guys are talking like this is some entitled NFL athlete.  This is a troubled kid that didn't last 2 years on the Seahawks and they are suing him to get money back.  The reason why it says "NFL player" instead of his team is that he is a street free agent when the rosters are at 90.  Hard to get there as a 2017 2nd rounder.  That's worse than Hackenberg or Ardarius Stewart.

Not that he doesn't completely deserve whatever he gets, but "normal" people skate on sh*t like this all the time.  You think this kid doesn't have some friends that have gotten away with similar?

He respects law enforcement, if they are in a supervisory capacity.

Also he reportedly said he was going to nut in the cop’s wife’s eye.

How has this become a thing?

Actually, not only is there no respect for law enforcement in this country, there are folks invoking the institutional victim card outwardly advocating for abolishing law enforcement or actively opposing law enforcement.

God let the purge happen and when those folks get slaughtered  they’ll be crying “why didn’t the police save us?”

The cop said some thing like 216 before they ended up wrestling. I’m not sure what that code means but either way he should of waited for back up.
