Rangers are signing college free agents to amateur tryout contracts, we may see K'Andre Miller agree to an entry level contract.

We are already the youngest team in the league.  With all the additions, the ones already in the system promising to make that even more true next year, how much room do we have for yet more pick ups from, the college ranks?

In one sense I would be looking to go the other way a bit and add a seasoned veteran or two.

If they do add a vet it's probably going to be someone they sign off a tryout in camp. They are probably going to get younger. They have the cap and impeding the youth to worry about, but perhaps they can pull off a trade with Edmonton for Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Jesse Puljujärvi in the off season.

Anyway they signed a promising young center: https://elitesportsny.com/2020/03/09/new-york-rangers-news-team-signs-udfa-patrick-khodorenko/

Any thought on the free agent market with an emphasis on good to very good face off skills?

Rangers nearing agreement with first-round pick K’Andre Miller

March 10, 2020 | 11:33am | Updated

The effort to bring K’Andre Miller into the Rangers organization is “pretty far down the road,” an individual with knowledge of discussions between general manager Jeff Gorton and the Wisconsin sophomore defenseman’s camp told The Post.

“The ball is rolling for K’Andre to be a Ranger,” the person said.

More specifically, the ball is rolling for Miller, the 22nd-overall selection in the 2018 entry draft, to become a member of the AHL Wolf Pack either on a PTO with the first year of the 20-year-old’s entry level contract set for next season or on Year 1 of his ELC.

Miller, a 6-4, 205-pound lefty, recorded 18 points (7-11) in 36 games this season for the Badgers, whose crushingly disappointing 14-20-2 season ended with their first-round ouster from the Big Ten tournament by Ohio State on Wednesday night.

He would join the core of young defense prospects in Hartford that includes Libor Hajek and Yegor Rykov. The Wolf Pack are in a playoff position with 15 games remaining.

I am guessing D'Angelo does walk given this pipeline of talent.  Don't see how we pay him what he will be wanting and still create room for all of these others.  Plus, to be honest his game which was on fire at one point has leveled off recently.

I hear you, that remains to be seen. Miller is probably a season or 2 away, but you never know.

I see what you’re saying but we’ve got guys like Kreider, Panarin, Strome, Staal etc that have been in the league for some time now.

Zibanjed continues his tare!

10 goals in his last 5, 22 in his last 21, 20th Ranger to score 40. 1st Ranger to score 40 in 56 games or less.

He also has the best scoring percentage in the league.

Had he not missed 13 game with the neck injury he may have been gunning for the Rocket Richard trophy.

Hoping that his breakout takes the pressure off and he can just skate and not think too much. The kid was set up beautifully on both goals!

JT Miller helping out with the OT goal vs. Icelanders to win it.

I think we need to see some stuff over a number of games before we can call it a a breakout but if it is going to happen it will have to start with the first game (fingers crossed)

Really tough playing the western conference #5 and  #2 on the road in successive nights.  Is it too much to hope for maximum points now that we have the first one tucked away?

Looks like the Rangers caught a break with MacKinnon sidelined with lower body injury, but it's going to be a tough one tonight.

Originally Quinn said he would use someone else in net in the 2nd game of the back to back, let's see if he changes his mind and sticks with Shesterkin.
