And it's all thanks to Phoebe Waller Bridge.

There are reports that Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch will be “introduced as 007” in the upcoming James Bond film.

According to reports in The Daily Mail, Lynch will be introduced close to the start of the film as 007 by M in a history-making moment which would make Lynch the first female character to play the iconic spy.

The source added that later, Daniel Craig’s Bond is set to be brought “out of retirement” to thwart a “global crisis” although it’s not yet certain what Lynch’s role will be after this.

The move is reportedly down to the intervention of Fleabag creator, Phoebe Waller Bridge, who was invited to liven up the script for the upcoming film which is still known only as Bond 25.

Speaking about her role in the film in a podcast for The Hollywood Reporter’s AwardsChatter, Waller-Bridge revealed that she has worked on making the film’s female characters “feel like real people.” She added: “It’s such an exciting story and it’s just been a thrill to work on” before adding that she tried to “sneak in” some feminist humour.

Lynch appeared in Captain Marvel earlier this year as fighter pilot Maria Rambeau, one of the oldest friends of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson.

Earlier this week (July 12), there were reports that Christoph Waltz was set to return as Blofeld in Bond 25 after he was spotted on set at Pinewood Studios.

The Oscar-winning actor played James Bond’s ultimate adversary in 2015’s Spectre and is set to lock horns with the super-spy once more – despite claiming that he wouldn’t star in the next movie.

According to the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, Waltz is currently shooting scenes at Pinewood – which is considered to be the iconic franchise’s spiritual home in the UK.

Bamigboye wrote on Twitter: “When a visitor spotted him, Waltz insisted: ‘You haven’t seen me’.”

Filming is currently back underway after Daniel Craig injured his foot during a shoot in Jamaica, putting a brief halt on production while the actor recovered from surgery.

This well be the end of that franchise.

You want to make a movie about a super hero female spy, I'd go see it.  Wait, they are.   It's called Black Widow, and I will go see it.  Completely change an existing franchise just to be more PC?   Eh, I'm done.

We had Alias.  We had Continuum.  We have had plenty of movies and series with strong female leads playing super-spies.  Many of them were really good.

I was cool with black Nick Fury.  I was pleasantly surprised by female Ancient One in Dr. Strange.  I like Jay Hernandez as the lead in the Magnum reboot.  I even accepted Tom Cruise playing a male role in Mission Impossible.  But this?  I'm assuming she will be the new 007, but not actually James Bond but rather his replacement with that designation.  So basically they're just repackaging the IP.

To that point, I feel like they have already long since destroyed what make James Bond movies great.  Sean Connery and Roger Moore were dashing, cocky, quick-witted with a dry sense of humor, and always got the girl in the end scene.  Now James Bond is angry, politically correct, and just plain boring to me.  It's not the James Bond I grew up with and not the one that Ian Fleming wrote.  So putting the name on a movie with a female lead?  If it's a good movie, I'll see it.  But if it's just a gimmick to celebrate how sensitive the industry can be, and it's a crap movie...no thanks.

Sometimes I’m torn between worry that I’m getting old, and thanking God I was young when I was.

This is one of the times I’m happy with the latter.

Salt Atomic Blonde Le Femme Nikita Red Sparrow there is no reason to make 007 female.

What next, Wolverine as a chick?

Abbie Lincoln?

The Godmother?

Raging Cow?

I'm all for diversity, but I strongly dislike the way society is forcing it down everyone's throat. Lets be real, she wasn't cast because people thought she would fit the spirit of the Bond series. She was cast because she is a black woman, and Hollywood has been on a roll of recreating iconic series with women for the sake of political correctness. And we all know how the James Bond series greatly opposes the PC and feminist ideals of Hollywood.

I'd be 100% okay if they cast Idris Elba to inherit 007, but a woman would damage the formula and identity of the series. It all just feels so forced. Just Look at the bit about the writer lady purposefully injecting "Feminist humour" into a James Bond.  If the fans of the series wanted this, that would be another thing. However I'm sure absolutely no one ever said "Hey what about Lashana Lynch" when they discussed who would take over the role of 007.

The 007 franchise ended with Roger Moore’s departure. It’s been trash since.

Gal Gadot was in the Army. How does this have anything to do with this issue? Nothing. Nothing at all. But she is super hot and was a soldier. So, I rest my case. Thank you.

What's the big deal?  They reset these moves all the time.  Roseann came back and the coach from Revenge of the Nerds suddenly wasn't dead.  Then Roseann made a rascist comment, so she died.  Somehow the sh*t was still on last week.  How many different guys have played Spider Man or Batman?  Didn't Alfred die?  He was in the next one.  Robin showed up - he is the fidget on one of the NCIS shows now.  Then he was gone.  They are still making more.

I’ll never understand the praise that has been heaped on Daniel Craig.

That guy is dull as f*cking dirt as Bond.

Casino Royale and Skyfall were pretty good Bond flicks, but certainly not because of him.

Can't wait for Lethal Weapon 5. With Jennifer Lawrence as Riggs and Anne Hathaway as Murtaugh. 🙄
