Giants WR Train Wrecks: Coleman tears ACL; Shepard fractures thumb; Tate suspended

I think the giants are really gonna suck.   4 wins max.  I just hope one of those isn’t against gang green. Old overrated qb, zero impact players on defense, lousy or injured wrs, and Barkley.

I actually liked the Beckham trade for the giants and thought they had a chance to have a great draft get a combo of Oliver and Sweat and they just botched it

Good

Eli is going to have to learn how to use the TE.  He has a pass catcher at that position in Engram.  A few years of Shockey and after that, the best Eli has had at the position has been Kevin Boss.  He is terrible in using TEs.  Maybe Jones can.

Engram is really a wr

Who said let off? I’ll I’m saying is that if Tyreek Hill gets 0 games, Tate shouldn’t get more than 1. The guy reported it as soon as he found out.

You hate to be skeptical, but here you are spouting BS about something you obviously know nothing about. You have no idea about how or if the child born in February was a struggle to conceive in the first place. You have no idea if he was taking something then. Also, it may be his wife that has issues and they’re trying to make him as viable as possible as well. A lot can change in 15 months. Again, not seeing the reason to not believe the player here when it has zero to do with you or the Jets. Just hating for fun?

I’m not “hating” just for fun but the number of reasons these guys give for “accidentally” taking PEDs is laughable.

I know a lot about infertility and the fact that they just had a baby, their second baby since they were married in 2017 does not add up. While none of us know anything about their fertility “issues”, having 2 children in 2 years does not reek of infertility issues.

And if it was his wife that is having fertility problems, there is no reason for him to be taking fertility medicine.

Maybe it’s all true but this is a fan message board and we’re all just speculating.

They just had a baby in February. A second baby in 2 years. If I’m allowed to speculate I’m calling BS.

If I’m not allowed to speculate then why have a fan message board.

Its the sympathy vote he’s going for and he seems to have your vote.

Not mine. They all know they can get every medicine they plan on taking tested for whether it’s prohibited and I can’t imagine he’s going to some budget fertility specialist who doesn’t understand he’s a professional football player with drug responsibilities.

The problem is that’s an apples to oranges comparison. Hill’s conduct and any discipline stemming from it falls under the Personal Conduct Policy, which seemingly has no or very loosely defined standards and is subject to the whims of Goodell and/or his minions. That’s why one guy gets 6 games, another gets 2, Hull gets zero and a bunch of the cases wind up in federal court. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, it’s a huge mess, and the players should absolutely be trying to get it fixed in the new CBA.

The PED policy however is very clearly defined. First time failure of a drug test is 4 games. Players are 100% responsible for any substance that goes into their body. Numerous outlets are provided for players to find out if anything they are planning on taking is or contains a banned substance. Zero tolerance.

Any other system either opens itself up to becoming the same mess the Personal Conduct Policy is, or becomes absolutely toothless. If Tate gets his suspension reduced, then anyone who takes a test and knows they are going to fail just adopts the same excuse and gets his suspension reduced as well. Or even worse, the precedent becomes selectively followed and the league opens itself up to all sorts of claims of bias and we get PED suspensions being challenged in federal courts as well.

The only scenario the league should even think about reducing the suspension is if Tate self-reported before he took the drug test. But if that was the case, he almost certainly would have said so. Instead we got a carefully worded statement that said he reported it “before a failed test was confirmed”. Any case he had falls apart right there, and at anything more than a superficial look at the timeline he alleges.

Time to see what Eli is made of paging @nyjunc

Eli struggled with a top 3 wr in Odell, he wasn't succeeding this year even if the weapons were healthy.  He was once a solid starter, those days are LONG gone.  Hopefully he starts enough games this year to get under .500 for his career before they move onto Jones.

He is gonna struggle this year almost certainly. We agree there.

Le'Veon Bell is Darnold's best WR.

No, Bell is his best overall receiving option, not his best WR. Those are two different things. You still need weapons who Darnold can consistently the ball to down the field.

Anderson is a homegrown talent who has a year with Darnold under his belt and seemed to be develop some nice chemistry with him during the second half of last season. Trading him doesn't make any sense to me unless we are immediately bringing back a comparable WR

Crowder's injury adds another reason not to trade Robbie for less than a 1st round pick.

Won't make things any easier for Daniel Jones to develop and Eli to try to hang onto his job.

9 defenders in the box against Saquon this season for sure.

The Giants should make a trade for a player like Odell Beckham or something.

Or they could lure Calvin Johnson out of retirement ?

Hypothetical:  If the Giants offered a 2nd + 5th rounder for Robby Anderson today, do you take it?

Sweet Christ yes. That could be a top three pick in round two. Anderson is talented, but giving him long-term money is frightening

Golden Tate in his interview was very forthcoming on EVERYTHING about his suspension.

Except one thing he refused to address.

When asked by a reporter, ‘why, if you just had a baby did you need to take a fertility drug’ he  went the “it’s a private matter and I don’t really want to talk about it”.

Such a crock.

Such a crock.

Another player tried to use the excuse of taking Clomid recently and I think it might have worked.  It was Dwight Freeney

Yeah it’s a crock of sh-t.  Clomid is actually used by women for fertility.  There might be a rare case when a man is prescribed it’s such a coincidence all these pro football players get prescribed it somehow

Clomid is a known masking agent for steroids.

He knew exactly what he was doing.
