2015-17 Jets Drafts in review

Maybe if people didn't have such a visceral reaction whenever anyone dared suggest Macc had little to do with Sam Darnold being here, or to the idea that drafting a Box Safety at 6 when you need a QB is dumb, these threads wouldn't go as many pages as they do.

That's just silly.  I think we all agree Sam dropping to us was a little lucky but hey luck happens to every team.  However he did make a good move by trading Richards to gain the ammunition needed to get Sam without forfeiting a future first.  I don't understand why fans are critical of adams, he has been a very good player for us.  Who gives a sh*t that we didn't draft a QB that year, we ended up with a better QB anyway.  But I get   "Macc sucks he did nothing he deserves no credit for any moves" LOL

Mosley struggles in coverage, and is a LB.  Adams is pretty much god awful in coverage and is a Safety.

Comparing Mosley to Adams in pass coverage doesn't help the cause at all.

None of this is true and it's dumb.

Absolutely.  Logic doesn't apply to some lol

Of course, you guys are right.  Mosley and Adams are so good in coverage, explaining why underneath routes were again our achilles' heal in training camp despite a new DC and all kinds of positive changes on defense.

Maccagnan was the GM when the trade to #3 was made. He authorized it, he signed off on it, it's his. We both know with 100% certainty that if the move didn't work out, you would be blasting "Mac's trade." Heimerdinger, who was being praised in @T0mShane fan fiction and pimped by you was fired at the same time as Mac. Maybe he wasn't really the be all and end all.

Mac passing on Watson and Mahomes was dumb. Absolutely. Drafting a strong safety at #6 is not a good use of a high pick, I agree. Luckily, again, Jamal Adams is really good at what he does and Mac landed what looks to be a legitimate franchise QB the following year. And then he got fired!

It's all good. Mac can't hurt you anymore.

Literally in every training camp practice thread it talked about the defense getting shredded on the underneath stuff.  Not my fault you weren't paying attention.

And its a work day dude.  This is my time to hit the boards.

That's a shame.   None of us are arguing for Macc keeping his job  but I find it hilarious that certain posters will refuse to acknowledge anything positive that Macc did or might have done.

He's still good, just maybe he's been exposed to nycjunc a bit much and has taken on his style of arguing every point incessantly after already having formed an opinion and wanting others to explicitly agree with that opinion.

Mac certainly hurt us all, but JF80 is going through some serious PTSD on him. We gotta help him through it.

Underneath routes are everybody's Achilles heel.  Executed properly they can't be stopped.

The same people who think Idzik was the antichrist are the same people who can’t reconcile the idea that Rex Ryan was a terrible coach who can’t even get an interview anymore. COUGH

He got rejected by two teams in the state of Florida this past winter alone.  Poor guy can't catch a break!

Remember when you predicted Rex would never work in the NFL again after he was fired from the Jets and then he got a Head Coaching job in the same division and knocked the Jets out of the playoffs in week 17?

Good times!

Great Post.  Look I had no problem getting rid of Macc, he certainly made a lot of bad moves.  However giving him zero credit for anything is utterly ridiculous

meh...a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while.  mac did not do a good job.  end of story.  he's not around to kick anymore.

This thread is basically JF80 trying to convince people who think that most of what Maccagnan did as GM was bad are wrong, and that actually everything he did was bad. And he's not going to stop. Ever. Yay.

Also, you trolls defending Maccagnan for adding “pieces” to this sh*t roster are clowns. Kudos to Macc for adding a pair of good ILBs, a strong safety, and an aging, expensive running back that literally nobody else wanted. It’s amazing what a career personnel guru can do with a billion dollars in cap space and three top-6 draft picks in a span of four years. Throw in the hyper-expensive CB1 that nobody else wanted and the two redundant DT’s he drafted at premium slots and you’ve basically got a young Bill Walsh on your hands.

Relax.  There won't be another Macc thread until Nathan Shepherd gets cut next winter.

It's a low bar, but what you're describing here is >>>>>> John Idzik.

That's all.

Oh, and Sam Darnold was landed on his watch, but let's sweep that one under the rug.

When did I say he did a good job?  Never said he shouldn't of been fired   I simply said he did make some positive moves.  Denying that is just wrong and ridiculous....END OF STORY lol

I think it is fine.  We should just confine it to the one thread, like Kelly or JetsRule.

You are the same guy that genuflects to Parcells for 1 good season, ignores him essentially passing on Manning, Pace and Walter Jones for junk, running Belichick out of town, sacrificing the 99 season by sticking with Mirer, dumping Groh on us who proceeded to quit after 1 season, over paying for Martin ( a 1 and a 3, after we lost 4 picks for Parcells), the Leon Johnson option pass in Detroit, etc, etc etc

Bill gave us a very good year and brought some short lived respectability (that was quickly  squashed by having 2 HC's quit in 12 months) but the amount of reverence you hold for him is far greater than his actual accomplishments here. It's not that different than Pac highlighting Mac's small successes in an otherwise sea of fail.

For a guy who's entire persona is to be the hyper-objective-with-a-negative-slant-guy about every other thing the Jets do, for him to defend the abject failure who cost us arguably a top 3 QB ever is ridiculous.
