CTE is a strong possibility here and I’m not trying to be funny.  Guy threw furniture out of a high rise building, overreacted to the situation in Pitt and now this.  Seems unhinged.

IIRC he had psychological red flags going back to his draft process which is partially why he fell into the later rounds.

You all know that A.B. is not here today. So here’s the bottom line. He’s upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that. We appreciate that,” Mayock said. “But at this point, we’ve pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief. So from our perspective, it’s time for him to be all in or all out. So we’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going and we hope A.B. is going to be a big part of it starting Week 1 against Denver. End of story. No questions.”

Going silently for what.    Antonio Brown isn't retiring over a helmet , and will be there week one.( non story)      Do you see J Gruden saying anything bad about Antonio Brown.    Mike Mayock can be the bad guy, and relay the Raiders organization message they want their star receiver concentrating on getting ready for the season.( don't want to hear about helmet).

When Antonio Brown comes back there no hard feelings with J Gruden.

Antonio Brown going to have a monster year , as the whole Raiders offense.   Let's see who has the last laugh.

Definitely.  WR's receive some of the hardest and most consistent hits in the game.

I mean the prevalence of CTE seems to already be so extreme in the NFL population, that whenever there is a psychological problem (aggressiveness, erratic behavior, addiction, etc) the almost instantaneous reaction should be that there is a probable correlation.  Many people seem to hate the idea that a disease can control behavior to this extent, as it seemingly removes agency from the player, but when you look at the extent of the changes in a victim's brain, the evidence becomes pretty overwhelming.

He was a headcase before he got to the NFL. Randy Moss was the same way.

No, but he went out of his way to defend Brown about a week ago.  That won't last long if Brown shows up unprepared for Week 1....or not at all.

This could just be a big ruse for AB to get out of having to practice.  Wouldn't put it past him.  But Gruden definitely expected him to be there for practice.

He can be the hardest working WR since Jerry Rice all he wants, but if the team starts out 1-3....watch out!

I think I remember this right - OAK and CLE share the dubious honor of each having exactly 1 winning season in the last 16 seasons.  So yes, forgive our mirth when he proclaims the coming dominance of the league by a team that hasn't been relevant since this was a bestselling product:

Yeah, it's so obvious that Big Ben was the problem.?

It's not that Ben wasn't a problem.  It's that you can't jettison your franchise QB under almost any circumstances.  Everyone else goes before the QB, including the GM, HC and future HOFers at other positions.

Drew Rosenhaus responds.....

Brown's agent responds to Raiders GM's last word

Oakland Raiders general manager Mike Mayock played bad cop Sunday, saying it was time for Antonio Brown to be "all-in or all-out" after the receiver "exhausted all avenues" in his helmet situation.

Brown's agent Drew Rosenhaus disagrees with the notion that all roads have been plowed in the helmet situation.

"We've worked very closely with the Raiders, and we will continue to work very closely with the Raiders," Rosenhaus said Sunday night on WSVN in Miami. "I'm not sure that we agree that we've exhausted all the options as Mike Mayock said, but there's no doubt it's still an ongoing process. We are trying to work with the team and the league and the union to try and come up with a solution, we haven't figured it out yet. To say that AB is upset about the decision to not let him wear his helmet is accurate, but we are still processing it and figuring it out. I wouldn't make too much about him not being there today, as much as we are still trying to come up with a solution that works for everyone."

Brown was away from the team for the majority of camp because of his desire to use his old helmet model that is no longer legal in the NFL. The All-Pro wideout has also been hampered by frostbitten feet after not wearing proper footwear while using a cryogenic chamber. A day after his grievance to use the old helmet was denied, Brown returned to Napa last Tuesday. But after participating in the walk-through Saturday, the Pro Bowl receiver skipped Sunday's workout, leading to Mayock's reaction.

As Rosenhaus indicated, the helmet situation isn't over for Brown, who tries to find a way to wear a Schutt Air Advantage. Perhaps a second grievance will be brought after the league shut down his latest avenue to wearing the newer (less than 10 years old) helmets Brown found.

One thing is certain, this isn't the last we've heard from Brown's helmet saga, which threatens to hover over the Raiders' entire preseason.
