Damn beachum getting paid that much?

Probably about average for starting LT who are not on rookie contracts.

Claims need to be in by noon.  So sometime early afternoon I would imagine.

Not really crazy about having only 5 WRs on the roster, Enunwa and Anderson NEED to stay healthy and live up to their hype.

LTs don't come cheap even when they are just average. It is worth the money if they keep the QB from getting a really bad blind side hit that could end their season or even their career.

Especially with Herndon out the first month.  But I would imagine we will add at least one WR today.

They'll sign at least one more, or maybe position like WR, QB, etc. may just keep rotating players on the practice squad and called up when needed. If JD keeps as many OL/DL he may do this since he values the men in the trenches in that fashion. Heck keeping 8 DL and 8 LBs indicates they will use 3-4 and 4-3 maybe 50% each.

Don’t forget Montgomery is really a WR.

With 8 DL remaining on the roster; and considering the way that Phillips and Kaufusi have looked during pre-season; could a trade of Leo be in the works?

Anybody think we put in a claim on Lauletta?

Would he be any more than Davis Webb 2.0?

Cap hit on the OLine from Left to Right....

$9.5M, $10.2M, $8.4M, $6.5M, $2.1M

Monetarily, this line tilts left.  Franchise Left Tackle in next year's Draft would be nice both from a youth/ability standpoint as well as for the Cap.

Yes, hopefully there are enough in next year's draft so we can get one out side the top ten when we do a little better this year.

Supposed to be a pretty heavy draft on WR and OT talent.  We'll see.

Not a bad armchair GM idea.  Does JAX need DLine help?

Im not sure but I remember reports that Coughlin wanted Ramsey gone. He would make our secondary great again!

they have 12 million in open cap space right now - No one decent to spend it on

That's your takeaway... that Kelvin Beachum is overpaid?

are you Scrooge from Charles Dickens' classic, a Christmas Carol?

You guys do know they don't refund unused cap space to season ticket holders, right?

1 - there are no franchise left tackles anymore

2 - Chuma Edoga will take over for Beachum next year  - for as  bad as the Polite pick was the Edoga pick was a gem

Don't mean to take over @Sarge4Tide's role; but I have not seen either a roster summary or summary of current cap space.  So here is where we are at as of this AM, according to Spotrac.

Current 53:

Player Position Cap Hit   Player Position Cap Hit   Player Position Cap Hit
Chuma Edoga T $711,750   Jamison Crowder WR $6,781,250   Le'Veon Bell RB $8,968,750
Kelvin Beachum LT $9,500,000   Robby Anderson WR $3,095,000   Bilal Powell RB $735,000
Brandon Shell RT $2,083,993   Quincy Enunwa WR $2,800,000   Ty Montgomery RB $735,000
Brent Qvale RT $1,400,000   Josh Bellamy WR $2,750,000   Trenton Cannon RB $604,806
Kelechi Osemele G $10,200,000   Greg Dortch WR $495,000
Brian Winters G $6,500,000           Sam Darnold QB $6,874,479
Alex Lewis G $2,025,000   Ryan Griffin TE $1,359,375   Trevor Siemian QB $2,000,000
Tom Compton G $1,837,500   Daniel Brown TE $735,000
Ryan Kalil C $8,400,000   Trevon Wesco TE $670,971
Jonotthan Harrison C $2,750,000

Player Position Cap Hit   Player Position Cap Hit   Player Position Cap Hit
Quinnen Williams DT $5,914,431   Jordan Jenkins OLB $2,205,980   Rontez Miles FS $1,907,000
Steve McLendon DT $2,750,000   Tarell Basham OLB $687,500   Marcus Maye FS $1,787,465
Nathan Shepherd DT $902,931   Blake Cashman LB $570,773   Doug Middleton FS $570,000
Foley Fatukasi DT $613,563   Frankie Luvu LB $570,000   Jamal Adams SS $6,070,566
Leonard Williams DE $14,200,000   C.J. Mosley ILB $13,000,000   Matthias Farley SS -
Henry Anderson DE $7,833,333   Neville Hewitt ILB $1,500,000
Bronson Kaufusi DE $645,000   Albert McClellan ILB $645,000   Trumaine Johnson CB $12,000,000
Kyle Phillips DE $495,000   Harvey Langi ILB $570,000   Darryl Roberts CB $4,500,000
                Brian Poole CB $3,500,000
Lac Edwards P $738,951           Arthur Maulet CB $657,000
Thomas Hennessy LS $645,000           Nate Hairston CB $645,000
Taylor Bertolet K $495,000

Did not realize that Qvale had made the team.  I assume he will get moved to IR or be released with injury settlement once we are awarded some claims today.

Big surprise here is that they kept 8 Dlinemen and only 5 WRs and 5 CBs. Burnett and K.Brown were def. surprise cuts. I expected Phillips and Shepherd cut over those two. But maybe the Jets are waiting to swing a trade- giving up Shepherd and hoping they can put Burnett and some of those young CBs on PS? I don't really know.

I agree that Qvale will end up on IR.

10 million is average for spending on street free agents or trades to back fill injuries during the season
