Beerfish
What's an edge rusher? I've heard rumours of such a thing but have never seen one.
PepPep
I think the interior linemen will get a lot of pressure on the QB- whether that will result in sack i'm not sure. Jenkins and Copeland (when he comes back) are both in a position to have breakout seasons. And although it may sound silly, but yes, Jamal Adams will be used as a blitzing safety. We saw it in pre-season and we will see it more during the regular season. He's good at it, he knows when to do it and when to back out and the coaches trust him. In other words. The Jets won't have one 'Edge rusher' responsible for sacking the QB. It will be done by committee, and frankly I have no problem with that. Villain The Foe
2 hours ago, CanadienJetsFan said: Clowney would have solved the problem Maybe, maybe not. He's a premiere run stopper. He hasnt proven to be a top 15 pass rusher in the league. And given the nature of his contract that was the main reason why he went for just a 3rd round pick and a couple JAGS and if he doesnt resign with Seattle then Houston has to send the pick back. They couldnt trade and extend. That's not a situation the Jets should make...trading for a guy just for him to hit free agency 6 months later. Maybe Macc should have drafted Josh Allen if he was going to ignore the offense for yet another year anyway, instead of drafting the 12th defensive tackle on the team.
GreenFish
Yet somehow there were Jets fans not interested in Clowney. Itll be Jordan Jenkins, Copeland and Frankie Luvu and you’ll like it.

I'm tired of the incessant whining over edge rusher. It's old, and likely no upgrade there fir a couple years unless we get lucky with a mud round pick. Our rush will come from scheme. pfilippone
Haven't you heard? Jets picked up John Franklin Myers off waivers. He played for the Rams last year. We're going to a 4-3. I hope this makes up for the lack of a proper edge rusher. https://www.ganggreennation.com/2019/9/1/20843700/john-franklin-myers-welcome-to-the-jets

I really believe he will be the next Cameron Wake, Demarcus Ware type of pass rusher. He is just awesome. Again, I wanted a trade back and OL in the draft and I've fallen deeply in love with our baby faced dominator at #3, but Josh Allen would have really fit the bill much better for our needs. We missed big on that one. And I think Q will be great.
mrcoops
With the current shape of the roster, it sure looks like the Jets are going to be a creative 3-4 / 4-3 hybrid scheme. Luvu, Jenkins and Basham have all played OLB and DE in the past. Langi can be an OLB or an ILB. We saw some of Phillips as a stand-up edge late in preseason. Kaufusi has also played down or as a stand-up edge. And the guy we got from the Rams, Franklin-Myers, also has the ability to play as a DE or as a stand-up big OLB. The Williams scheme is going to be creative, and it's going to be the key to generating a pass-rush with the players that we have.
