mrcoops
I guess those other opportunities that Dortch was pursuing didn't amount to much. Glad to have him back though. Polish his WR skills on the PS under Jefferson and Ward, and we might have something.
NYJ1
I'm happy he's getting a chance to sharpen his skills. It was obvious to me while he was in there that he needed time to get better. I hope he gets that.

It means they want to keep an eye on the player, possibly elevate him in the event of an injury. Any team can grab him if they want to sign him to the 53 man roster. Nobody has because nobody believes he is better than player 53 they already have.

Popular Post BCJet
Well thankfully we have Braxton Berrios doing absolutely nothing every game as opposed to a young player who actually was able to elude people when returning punts. 5

After all, we've got Berrios who is a very similar player.
Paradis
too bad. We now only have 13 slot WRs to choose from on the roster.

The Jets are getting poached left and right on their PS. Dortch today, Bennett was signed by the Ravens yesterday, we lost an OLineman to Denver about a month ago. I think I've nailed exactly what the Jets roster problem is - They have a lot of very average guys, players who would hover around the 50-60 spot on rosters, but they don't have enough elite guys. In other words, we have several players on the 53 who could be somewhat interchangeable with guys on the PS. Our "bad" players are better than some of those on other teams....but our "good" players wouldn't be considered good by other teams. I'd expect the Jets PS to continue to get picked at. But let's remember, we do the same thing....and grabbed Vyncint Smith off of Houston's PS and he's currently our starting KR and WR4/5. I'm also suspecting/hoping he STAYS as the KR even after Cannon returns from injury.

GREENBEAN
Roberts is averaging 4.9 yards per return this year. He had his career year last year.Exactly. I’m one who believes Dortch is one of those guys who will always figure out how to be effective. I’ve known so many guys like that. It’s the will. But Roberts would have been fine to resign but wasn’t worth the big money for the one goof year he had. pdxgreen
Sorry. I just dont see what he's supposed to improve on. He wasn't particularly elusive and actually slowed down after the catch. He got absolutely hammered a few times in the preason. I think he'll be a good returner. But dont ever think he's going to be a full time receiver. mrcoops
Frankie Luvu was re-signed to the PS to fill the Dortch spot. Good to have Frankie back - he should find his way back onto the 53 at some point soon.

Everyone always overreacts to a returner having a big year out of nowhere, but there are very few guys who are awesome returners year in and year out. Kickers, returners, and relief pitchers are all in that same "year to year" category of who the hell knows how they will perform in any given year.
