The Dolphins fired coach Adam Gase after last season, and then he almost immediately landed with the Jets.

The Dolphins are also currently a tanking mess, and they lost their opener Sunday, 59-10 at home to the Ravens.

So was Gase happy to see Miami get crushed?

“Uh, that’s one I’d rather not answer,” Gase said Tuesday, after a long pause, during his weekly appearance on Michael Kay’s ESPN New York radio show.

Translation: Gase isn’t exactly feeling sorry for the Dolphins.

He quickly changed the subject after that telling one-sentence “non-answer.”

“I know this: I was happy for Kenny Stills last night when he caught that touchdown pass against New Orleans,” Gase said of the Texans and Stills falling just short Monday against the Saints. “That was a shame they lost. But I was happy for Kenny, and it was good to see Laremy [Tunsil] look like he was playing pretty well."

The Dolphins just traded Stills (a game-changing receiver) and Tunsil (a high-quality left tackle) to the Texans, as Miami embraces tanking in 2019.

So while Gase is happy for two former Dolphins players who were able to get out of Miami and land on a contender, he isn’t exactly sobbing about the current Dolphins taking one on the chin.
