Rex: Baker Mayfield “overrated as hell”

Recommended Posts

Why is a thread started everytime "whatever"

fixed.

Wherefore should Rex stfu?

we got dickheadds who aint never done anything even CLOSE to the NFL on the radio, on the TV talking mad schitt about any and all sports... i mean sstpehn effin A smith is the biggest blowhard to open his stoopit mouth....shoutin and blathering.

anyway, its just one persons opinion...  i wonder what mooch and jaws think... and other ex NFL people.

after the Rose Bowl I wasnt so hot on Baker. seemed more gimmicky yards than NFL QB yards and a whole lotta running game.

it'll take a couple/few years to see whats what w. the 2018 class. Tho I think Jackson has a decent lead on all the others so far...

Tyler Lockett would be Jeremy Kerley if he was on the Jets. Elite QBs make their own weaponz, not the other way around.

It;s interesting cos RW is good. Jussst slightly below elite, IMHO. coudlnt do diddly w/ Graham at TE.

Yeah, let's make fun of Rex for being a defense coach while listening to that other fat **** squawk about QBs.  We can forget how he ran O'Donnell out of town.  How he took the ball out of O'Donnel's hands to have rookie RB Leon Johnson throw a pass, and giving Ray Lucas his first attempts.  Both threw picks.  He thought Foley was a viable starter.  Then he was forced to start a cast-off that Lil' Bill brought in who rescued his season.  Or maybe the time that guy got hurt and he traded a draft pick for Rick ******* Mirer and bet the season on him, later to find out the guy he used as a punt gunner and WR was a better QB. That guy gets to make rules about what QB you should draft.

2) Can you imagine what this board would be saying about Darnold if he had OBJ and Landry to throw to and played the way Baker has over the course of the first three weeks? It would not be pretty.

THIS ALL DAY.

fwiw, me and @Jetsfan80 made money bets last year.

proceeds to charity, which was his idea and a very good one. mad props.

it stems from the fact that I thought the Browns/Baker hype was premature.

props are-

1) Browns will make playoffs THIS year.

2) Browns will win a playoff game NEXT year.

I bet against both, he bet for both. No stipulations for injury, but I'd still agree to nullify if Baker goes down

w/ a serious injury.

Jus sayn

I'll stand by my picks!  What did we say, $50 to charity?

So... Brownies IN playoff next year, win a playoff game 2020..

50 and 100 $ respectively!

A few losses and we are off to the races with the Browns and their "personalities" in the locker room.  This is powder keg waiting to explode.  Sit back and enjoy, folks.

The wind at Mile High took a kickoff and turned it into an unintentional onside kick that Denver recovered.  No coach can plan for that.

one of the most bizarre momentum altering freak things i ever saw... hand of god and all.

(whereas Matt Ryan taking that sack that put them outta FG range in the 4q of that choke job in the SB, is just a mind numbingly stupid play)

this whole "owning" business is a lotta new-age bunk...

obssession is obssession

for me? a whole lotta Baker talk on a NYJ forum means those OP's are posting in the wrong place.

also, all this "hate" talk all the time...     when did thinking someone who is a loudmouth a-hole, seperately from whatever public field they may be in...     or critically evalautaing someone= hate?

nah humbug! ( preeemptive strike b4 holiday season)

Chubb might be a better RB than Baker is a QB. Just a thought.

Make it run first, and Baker plays the Sanchez role. ( He's already as good, a bit better, than Sanchez at his best.)

3-INT day and another loss for the 2nd most unlikable player in the league. Ho hum.

If this keeps up and Sam balls out like he did today, this thread will never end.

I'll add 2 things...

1) Cleves D was also vastly overrated coming into 2019.

2) Anybody who said L Jackson would take too many hits should watch his reel today... dude just jukes and runs past dudes and goes OOB or goes down early... mostly......

love this player, fun to watch and fun to root for.... all the teams who pciked before and still need Qbs should dick punch their grocery shoppers

His QBR is almost identical to last year.  2018 QBR =  51.2

As of today...    2019 QBR = 51.8...  (ESPN #s)

difference? All the hype last year, and the overexpectations THIS year.

Are you suggesting that he's having a similar year?

I didnt design the stats.

yeah, he threw more TDs and fewer INts..     so then why is the QBR so damned similar?

My thought is b/c its WEIGHTED.

All TDs and INts are not created equal. I think...

Lamar deserves credit but the overall team does too.  The offensive line along could allow him to do 50 jumping jacks before having to throw or run lol

the point is that samfans seem to think that sam could do same. no effing way

I guess Geno Smith fans are still bitter, all these years later, about how deeply wrong they got the Fitz vs. Geno debate.

Imagine, still being butthurt over being wrong half a decade ago, lol.

Also, Fitz in 2019 > Darnold in 2019.  He produced the same or better in almost every production metric on a worse team, and beat the Patriots in a big, meaningful-to-Patriots game.

That should really bother every Jets Fan.

Again, maybe instead of excusing it, we should be demanding Darnold be materially better than a worn out old Fitzy, eh?

It isnt FAIR to compare Sam to an actual grown up. Sam is just a 22 y/o baby.

He's been significantly worse than Fitz BOTH years. And yet...    he's SPECIAL, he's ELITE...

He's been a bottom 5 QB 2 years. the #6 and THREE second rnders? Value thus far...   MINUS.
