The schedule thing is a complete myth.  Since they expanded and realigned in 2002 only 2 games are determined based on where you finished the year before(and sometimes those 2 games turn out to be more difficult than the 2 games for this AFC North teams that finished ahead of them) so them winning 7 games last year had little to do with how bad they were the previous season.

Right now they are 2-3 and in the thick of the AFC North race. They had a great win last week and a terrible showing last night but there's a long way to go.

Yeah a myth, come on, you dont think they had an easier schedule last season compared to this season?

They have Seattle, the Pats, Denver, Bills the next 4 weeks, which game is a given win?  They better not go 1-3 because then their schedule gets a bit easier

I haven't looked at it but only 2 games are determined by where you finish. They finished in 3rd place last year so the 2 games based on that finish are Vs Tennessee and at Denver.  They got crushed by Ten but neither of those teams are very good.  Their issues are about themselves, playing with expectations for the first time and a HC that doesn't look ready for that job.

No one thought they would go into Baltimore and win so who knows but I'd think they beat Denver and Buffalo.

Yeah, sometimes it works out that way, so what, the schedule is tougher.

Whats the argument.  Pick and choose them better

I mean, Baker has had 3 consecutive bad weeks.  Isn't it possible that, with a year of tape and an offseason to re-calibrate, the league has "caught up" to Mayfield?

It'll be up to Baker to make adjustments/improvements, and perhaps he will.  But it's silly not to take new information into account when evaluating a player.

Bad in preseason also. I think there's enough bad from Mayfield now and the information is newer that you start to discount last year, not the more recent stuff.

My honest assessment of Mayfield is I don’t think he has learned to create sight lanes to compensate for his height deficiency on the field. He seems to panic in the pocket before he needs to and tries to run out in space and play street ball at that point.

Nobody leaves a clean pocket more than Baker Mayfield in the entire NFL because he's a pussy.

Or the schedule wasnt the cream puff schedule he had after the Browns 1 win and 0 win seasons

Also the loudmouth, people doubt me so I'm going to not shut up, even talk about my own players nonsense loses its effect, turns, after a while

I know this, I told Villain and the rest of the Baker fan boys, the press likes to build you up early, dont feed them because as soon as you stumble they'll come down on you like a ton of bricks.

How many times have folks told me what happened in the press that I didnt even know about at the time....but found out on Jetnation?

I never pay mind to the press. They're sensationalist, proof of that was a conversation during draft night becoming Daniel Jones hate in August. The folks who need to be told this are the one's who love to eat this up once Mayfield stumbles. That's when you get Rex Ryan posts.

I generally dont even care about the press, unfortunately Mayfield and press followers do though.

When it's about football, sure.

When its about your year-long amount of emotions, you can save that for the Kardashians.

You're so neutered right now, your last three responses have amounted to "stop being mean and picking on my obnoxious actions over the past year".

I'm done with my victory lap; I've planted my flag. If I keep going, I'll actually feel sorry for you. I'm sure I'll be back soon though as Baker continues to prove me right and be exactly who he was always supposed to be pre-draft: a plug and play starting QB with limited upside on the field, and a douchebag off it.

Congrats. You've waited a year for this moment. Let me not ruin it. About time you told the truth though, instead of continuously claiming that you're talking about football but suddenly fallen victim to a ton of Baker Mayfield talk by VTF in threads that I dont make nor you have to open.

You are excited for this weeks victory lap. Then do it without claiming to be a victim. That's what made your approach lame. I can respect a guy taking his victory lap. I've had my moments. Dont bring up all tihs past year talk as if you havent been right in the thick of things.

Take your time jogging. No need to be fake about it.

I'll never understand why @Villain The Foe did all this Mayfield promotion for the past year and a half on a NY Jets message board.  Not only that, but with the expectation that it wouldn't be received poorly.  Too funny.

You're either a Jets fan or not.  Pumping up another teams' QB prospect for over a year here kind of says it all.  Not buying his line that the jets are his "favorite" team and Mayfield is his favorite player.  A sane person does not flaunt that on an opposing team's message board.

But that's OUR Villain.  Every message board I guess needs its loonies.

Because this is a football forum, and part of my supposed boast is based on quotes looking for my 2 cents, only to say 20 months later how Ive spoken on another teams quarterback on a Jets forum as if all of these threads are being started by Villain The Foe. Lol

I talk about a quarterback, folks talk about and quote me when it's convenient. There's a difference.

How about the dude not shaking hands with the opposing defense before the game?

I could be having a brain moment, but I don’t think I have ever heard of that in the NFL before. Baker has some talent, but he’s got one of those personalities that is always going to fire up the opposing team/fan base. He would have been such a disaster in NY

Looks like you weren't the only one that noticed.

Quote

"What's amazing, and annoying, was him not shaking hands at the beginning," Sherman said. "That's some college s---. It's ridiculous. We're all trying to get psyched up, but shaking hands with your opponent -- that's NFL etiquette. And when you pull bush league stuff, that's disrespectful to the game. And believe me, that's gonna get us fired up."

[...]

"Respect the game," Sherman said, referencing Mayfield's pregame behavior. "You can have rivals, but pay your respect in that moment -- especially when you're young.

"He hasn't earned anything in this league. How many games has he won? He's acting like he was the MVP last year. If (Patrick) Mahomes did that, it would be one thing. But he would never do that, because he has too much respect for the game.

"And when you see a guy who doesn't? You humble him every chance you get. Because eventually, he will have respect for the league -- or he'll be out of it."

So now some video surface of Mayfield actually shaking hands before the toss with the Seahawk captains.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/richard-sherman-backtracks-after-video-footage-proves-baker-mayfield-shook-hands-with-49ers/

So since the premise of why the 49ers were so pissed off that they had to gobsmack the Browns has been rebutted, will they have to replay the game?

Yikes

This was made public by Richard Sherman talking about it after the game. He stated how Baker hasnt done anything in this league, which is true. And how he needs to have respect for the game, which to a degree is also true. However, Richard comes from the same cloth, something Richard decided not to say anything about. Players tend to shake hands both before and after games.

I remember back when he made Tom Brady into a meme with that "You mad bro"? After a game when he and that Seattle team was unknown with a rookie QB. His brashness also put targets on him to the point that Trent Williams punched him in his face in 2013, again...after a game. And there were many Sherman-haters that where glad that Sherman got punched in the face given all his talk. Also in 2013 he went on First take and basically told Skip Bayless that he's "Better at life than you", on national television.

Mayfield isnt doing anything that Richard hasnt done in this league. So, though Richard is making points, he should be the last person to speak on points he himself didnt observe before he became that cagey veteran.

With that said, Baker Mayfield should have shake'd hands before the game. That's how things are done.
