Protest this team

Dude...  you like to classify all the stupid Jets fans (and there are many) as Mets fans.  Got news for you buddy.  Plenty of Jets-Yankees fans say the same stupid things.  I know plenty of them.  One has nothing to do with the other.  Get over it.  It's stupid and petty of you.  Because your football team sucks, you love to piss on other Jets fans other allegiances.  Makes you feel better, huh?  How about  Knicks fans?  Want to piss on Knicks fans too?  Screw that.  It makes you look petty and, frankly, not so smart.  Do yourself a favor and stick to football here.  JMO.  carry on.

There is a Mets mentality that is the polar opposite of a Yankees mentality.  We share the same communities and the same highways but we are very different when it comes to patience and temperament.

So when Mets and Yankees fans are pushed together as a collective of Jets fans, you've got a split personality among our fanbase.  Mets fans are gloom and doomers who like to play the role of loveable losers, Yankee fans are optimists who are used to lean years and strong years with no patience for depressive behavior.  Mets fans want Gase killed for a weak offense and embarrassing them at the lunch table, Yankees fans think that's crazy talk because we know what it's like to suffer through unexpected injury and we are self-confident enough to not worry about petty teasing.

That is my only point on the matter.

So are you guys protesting Darnolds spleen or the chick that game him Mono? Otherwise I have no idea who or why you'd be protesting.

Well, all that protesting they did last year when Kyle Shanahan lost Jimmy Garoppolo and went 4-12 clearly worked because this year they look to be the best team in the NFC.  I mean, firing Kyle Shanahan really did the trick, and...

Wait.  They didn't protest?  They realized it was an act of God and waited for their quarterback to get healthy and stuck by their new head coach?  And now they're 4-0?  That can't be right.  Must have been a bi-plane in there somewhere.

I am a PSL/ season ticket holder. Is there any way to organize the season ticket holders to show their displeasure by not showing up and not selling your tickets to a game. It would really make a statement to have the stadium 75 percent empty.

Empty seats and opposing fans in the stadium for 20+ years hasn't really made a difference.  I don't think a "protest" stance by a few hundred or even a couple thousand fans will make a difference in that.

Wear green.

Get in the seats early.

Support Sam and this team.

Beat the Cowgirls. That's where I stand.

This is a great post.  There's a lot of human psychology at play here in the Jets fan base.  I don't think that stereotype of Mets fans applies to everyone, because I'm a Mets fan and I'm still an optimist....about the future of both teams.   But there's truth in what you wrote.  Some people are resilient and get back up.  Others are the "whoa is me" crowd and get actual enjoyment from complaining about things in life.

I believe the unfortunate thing with the Jets is that the hopes were high heading into Week 1 (and deservedly so).  And, the Jets were proving that they could deliver on those hopes with a 16-0 lead into the 3rd Quarter until an injury to the best defender started the dominoes tumbling.  The Monday hangover of a 1 point loss was compounded when we learned that Darnold was out.  The loss of Darnold was compounded when the Jets backup QB went down just a Quarter into his first game.  We've been riding a QB3 and underperforming OLine ever since and it hasn't helped that the Jets have played against teams with a combined 14-6 record so far.

I get it....it's real easy to get down about this stuff but I'm looking at a Defense that's continued to play hard and an offense that's getting several players back this week.  The Jets have been without 7 starters for most of the year including 2 of their 3 best players on the team.  Brighter days are ahead.

The average season ticket holder for the average NFL team knows that during a 30 year commitment in order to get a 10 year run as a consistent playoff team and Super Bowl contender you've got to suffer through 20 years of bad football in that span.  49ers, Cowboys, Patriots, Giants, Packers, pick a great NFL franchise, that's how the math works out.

So, yeah, it wasn't fun the last 8 years watching the Jets implode.  But, yes, the future is bright and the season ticket holder's reward for those 8 years of wasted time and wasted money is that our dreams are going to come true very soon and that makes it worth every minute.  I'm a NY Rangers fan and I'm still buzzing off of the '94 Stanley Cup win; I actually don't need them to win another one to make my fandom for hockey complete.

You are delusional. The PATS were in the SB in the 80's, 90's etc.  What dry run?  The Cowboys were relevant into the late 70's and then again in the 90's.

You actually believe the crap you are pedaling.

In the last 20 years, the Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs 13 times and have won 3 playoff games in that span.

The Jets have won more playoff games in 2 seasons than the Cowboys have since 1996, that's 23 years.

In the years leading up to the dynasty, the New England Patriots were the Jets in red uniforms.

They failed to make the playoffs 15 times in 22 years and went 7 straight seasons without a playoff appearance.  When making the playoffs, they had a record of 6-7.

Again, the point is, even the well-run franchises have long stretches of time where their fans think they suck and the sky is falling.  But patience pays off for loyal season ticket holders.

49ers.jpg

Season ticket holders of the 49ers just went through a stretch where they had 14 non-playoff seasons just to have a 3 year window where they came close to a Championship and fell short.

Again, a great-run franchise, one of the league's dynasties, and even their season ticket holders have to put up with 14 years of suck to get a measly 3 years of glory.

It's how it is in the NFL.  Drew Brees Saints, 1 Super Bowl.  Aaron Rogers Packers, 1 Super Bowl.  Peyton Mannings Colts 1 Super Bowl.  All those franchises went through long and painful stretches before they found their franchise quarterback and had a window and all they could do is eke out 1 measly Super Bowl win each.

The NFL is hard.  Hard for players.  Hard for fans.  Perhaps you should follow tennis.  Pick the right player, you can have a wonderful decade.

You are generalizing and I know you are a lot smarter than this.  I know so many Jets-Yankees fans that want to lynch Gase right now.  I know Mets-Jets fans who don't.  You attempt to associate Jets fans with fandom of other teams in other sports is downright awful reasoning.  Actually there is no reasoning.  Just a feeble attempt to draw an analogy that is false.  False analogies are bad logic and they are obvious.  Just stop.

That is all.

The Jets have sucked for 50 years.

We have the 27th Worst Winning percentage in NFL history.

The Pats are 4th all time, Miami 5th, and the Bills 23rd.

I’ve watched this mess since 1982. In the best part of 40 years, I’ve never seen us have a real QB. All our AFCE teams have had HOF QB’s, Super Bowl appearances and one with 6 Wins In that time.

In all that sh*t, and forever waiting until next year SOJ bull sh*t. I’ve never seen worse performances than I’ve seen in the last month. At this point we aren’t any better than an expansion franchise. Anything else is pure delusion.

Yep just ask their die hard fans about Sullivan Stadium, of course they won't know what your talking about because their die hard fans didn't start until post Drew Bledsoe.

For comparison sake Burnley has been around since the late 1880's how many championships have they won ??

Liking a team doesn't guarantee you'll see a winning franchise - only 1 team hoists the trophy every year , at least the Jets have 1 , there are other teams that have yet to win.

Then sell to opposing fans.  Agreed that the system is set up to "NOT" penalize bad teams and THAT is unfortunate. BUT we as fans need to do something to let Woody know this is totally unacceptable. The Rays in Florida get decimated EVERY year as their free agents leave. They have very low attendance but they field a competitive team.  Same with the Lightning. Lightning is owned by Peter Vinick, he lets the GM run the show.

They should do something similiar to soccer if your team finishes in the bottom 2  they are relegated and must wait 1 or 2 years to get back into the NFL. Use the USFL/XFL or a newly formed league to hold the 6-8 teams that would compete for a spot to ascend up.

It would completely eliminate tanking and force owners to be accountable for their messes. Hit them where it hurts take away their earning power and things would get serious pretty quickly.

Two, but to be fair it’s not a level playing field unlike the NFL. It’s also more competitive, and we have four professional leagues with 92 teams in them. 91 since Bury is now bankrupt.
