UntouchableCrew
I've thought long and hard about whether to force any of my loser franchises on my kids. It would be easier if I had left NY (grow up outside Chicago? Root for the Bears!) but I'm still in NY and would have a hard time with a kid who liked the Giants. So should I ruin his/her sports life to spare my own annoyance? Time will tell.

Jetster
They'll all be very happy over the next 10 years. Sams over his Mono, JD knows for sure our Oline sucks azz and will fix it in free agency & the upcoming draft, he'll get another CB, some pass rushers, and a #1 WR & we'll be rolling. BigRy56
Just think about the head start he has. We suffered for years and now the newbies are being born into the Sam Darnold era.... it's like Pats fans whose kids came up with Tom Brady - they don't know about the previous decades of mediocrity, just W after W. Not only is he quieter than a desert night, but I just can't rationalize going into a game with Luke Falk (not a legitimate NFL player) as starting QB and absolutely no back up at all. To put it another way, not signing a guy like Osweiler (or any journeyman legitimate NFL back up for that matter) and making Falk the back up. I know the results would not have changed much, but the lack of action is concerning. Hope I am wrong. Hope he drafts the hell out of the offense, signs a pass rusher and CB(s) and we are on our way, just doubting right now whether or not he is able to do this. Savage69
No one makes anyone a fan of any team.. Some kids want to please their Dad's so they root for his team.. I have a friend whose a life long Jet fan back to the Titan days and his kid is a Giant fan and his 2 boys are Cowboy and Packer fans.. Unless your dad threatened to kill you, a kid can root for any team they want it's called free will.

But I decided to take him to his first Jet game in 2001. Jets were playing the Colts in Indy over Christmas weekend. We drove down for the Sunday Night game. Testaverde hits Anthony Becht for a TD in the final minute and we win 29-28, and he was hooked. I blame Vinny and Becht. Not myself. Joe Douglas learned from the best in Ozzie, was an Olineman himself & signed Kalil. Now Kalil didn't work out but he gave it a shot because I believe he knew already this oline was a mess. I don't know what anybody can do in 2019 coming in after the draft & free agency, his hands are tied. Are we to think that the Patriots have ALL PROS at every position on the oline? of course not, they have a great Oline coach & Brady has played in the same system for 20 years. The Pats are RARELY behind the sticks constantly in 3rd & shorts and Brady knows where every outlet is faster than Falk can get through his 1st read. He knows how to change out of plays based on opponents defensive sets & that in turn makes everyone's job easier on the line. JD knows what & who the problems are, unlike Macc, but can he fix it & how long will it take is the question.

cjs5726
Sadly, like domestic abuse and alcoholism, we often see this malady of Jets fandom passed down from generation to generation. I resent my father to this day for making me watch Joe Namath each Sunday and cursing me with this affliction for the next 50 years. I pray for your son and hope with the right amount of therapy and treatment he can eventually break this disturbing pattern.

But the clincher had to be the last game of the 2001 season against Green Bay with thousands of people still in the parking lot listening to the pats-Dolphin game to see if our game mattered. And when it did, the mad charge for the spirals was incredible. It was like being in Madrid for the Running of the Bulls in Pamploma. The exit was even better after the Jets mopped the floor with the Packers..... hooked for life, at that point, I'd say. By the time my grandson is the same age, both Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones will be in the primes of their careers. One of them can make the difference.

He was a men's shoe wholesaler and for a reason I don't know, Mets, Dodgers, Jets and even Kncks would go to him for shoes. I met a whole bunch and went to lots of games because he could always get tickets. Dodgers used to come to his 6ht ave and 35th street showroom every time they were in town like they were his good buddies. Maury Wills, Drysdale. Never met Koufax bu he always went. My grandfther was a huge Bklyn Dodgers fan which eventually converted to Mets, and probably so he could go to games with me. I remember Cubs coming in too... big time 3rd baseman, HOF caliber, cant remember his name. Nice guy. ... can't recall. Fond memories.
