Generational?  The Jets just didn't deal with it well. How much of that is GAse and how much Darnold hard to say but definitly some of both. The second play shows Crowder I think clearly open in the flat, there were options, even considering the dumpster fire that was the protection

Also the OL coach Pollack.

I just hope the Redskins hire an outside HC who wants to bring in his own OL coach. Chris Johnson should then give Bill Callahan a blank check to come in as OL coach

The Eagles did the same type thing against Falk... Belichek saw that and said, it doesn't matter who is back there... this team can't beat it.

Yeah, they can sit here and fellate the Pats or criticize the coaching but on the first play the blitzer is still a step away and Crowder is open when Darnold’s just misses the throw on the first pick. On the sack/ fumble it’s on Darnold to diagnose the blitz and it’s also on him to see the wide open Jamison Crowder on the left.

Pats fundamentals...When are NFL coaches going to learn until their players are fundamentally sound all fancy formations and playcalling won't mean squat against top flight coaching including the greatest of all-time

But  @nyjunc says its all Tom Brady. :)    Pats play solid football all around. We, are the Jets.

Frank Pollack has been in this situation before and Gase needs to realize it quickly.

From an espn article after the Cowboys fired Pollack:

Pollack took over for Bill Callahan after the 2014 season. Dallas was in the top 10 in rushing -- including second in both 2016 and 2017 -- in each of Pollack's three seasons as the line coach.

During Pollack's tenure, left tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martinmade the Pro Bowl each season and all three were first-team All-Pro picks in 2016. Pollack also oversaw the move of La'el Collins from left guard to right tackle in 2017.

Pass protection, however, was an issue in 2017. Dak Prescott was sacked 32 times after he was sacked 25 times as a rookie. The Cowboys missed Smith for three full games and all but three snaps of a fourth. In the first game Smith missed, Prescott was sacked eight times by the Atlanta Falcons, with backup tackles Chaz Green and Byron Bell giving up six sacks. Without Smith on the field, Prescott threw one touchdown pass. The protection was better with Smith on the field, but Prescott's yard per attempt dropped from 8 to 6.8 in 2017.

obviously.  but are we to believe only the pats have good football fundamentals?  these players have been playing the game for over 10 years including high school.  you'd think they'd have the fundamentals burned in by now.  it's too simple.  and the whole idea that the cover zero defense is the way to go is also simplistic.  if that was the case, all teams would be using it and vulnerable to it.

the real issue is the jets oline just wasn't blocking very well and that's been the case the whole season.  shuffling the oline at this point isn't going to help either.  they need a another complete training camp and some serious weeding out before they'll be viable.

i guess the only other comment is how the jets no sign collins after he was released by the browns?  the guy always had some good talent.

The more concerning part is, this isnt special.  Teams do this sh*t all the time.  The Eagles did it to the Jets too.  The Gregg Williams did this 20x last night.   And guess what, more teams will too now that the book is out on how to beat an Adam Gase led offense.  Falk, Sieman, now Darnold....they're all doing the same thing vs. the Jets.  The Cowboys were the only morons to just sit back.

Jacksonville has significantly better pass rushers than the Patriots.  They're going to destroy Sam.
