Suck it, Joe Douglas haters.

For trade context: Jadaveon Clowney, a much more productive pass rusher, was traded for a 3rd in 2020 and two throw in players that have produced very very little this year. The Jets got great va

Hope the Giants keep losing and it is a high 3rd.  Good return for Leo.  Better than we could have gotten in a comp pick had he walked.

Given how many needs this team has, no chance we could have counted on a comp pick.  Douglas would have had to get very clever in avoiding UFA's next offseason.

Trade Robby next.

Suck what?

We just traded a #6 overall pick for a middling 3rd and a maybe 4th/5th some day.  And we're paying most of his salary.

There is nothing here to gloat or brag about.  A 3rd is what we'd expect as a baseline for a guy who performs to Leo's level.  We didn't fleece anyone here.  Looks like a fair deal for fair compensation.

That's a major win.  Ultimately gets them more than best case scenario for comp picks (much later 3rd, essentially early 4th, a year later), while they also can avoid the comp pick issue of being limited in this offseaon's FA to still get it.  Plus, while less important, but a little side bonus, it frees up even more money for next year.  For all of the other things pissing me off about this team right now, I'm feeling a little better about Douglas.

Holy crap we agree on something.  Only took a decade.

Not too bad a return for a guy who has under-performed and who is in the last year of his deal.

A 3rd and a 5th for a potential half-season rental is a pretty good result.

A 3rd and a 4th if he signs an extension is even better.

We have plenty of pieces on the DL with Anderson, McLendon, Quinnen, Phillips, Foley Fatukasi, Willis. Also, Shepherd is coming back from suspension so he could take the roster spot if the Jets think he is worth keeping.
