freestater
Gase sucks. The sooner everyone accepts this, the quicker we can get on to the next coach who is going to ruin Darnold.

Gase has always been in over his head. Firmly explains the rollouts and bootlegs yesterday. Those were like momentum boosters to each drive they hit on one. Darnold on the run is highly highly effective and Darnold knows this. Good on him for walking into his office and telling him this sh*t ain’t working and we need to change some things if you want the best out of me. He isnt Peyton Manning. Don’t ask Sam Darnold to be a statue behind the worst OL in the world.

Not that impressive. Go out and beat the Ravens or the Raiders or the Steelers or the Bills the next few weeks? Okay sure. But let’s not pretend the goal of this season was 6-10 and a bottom third offense. The Ravens? LOL! They just beat the snot out of team that Bill Obrien has been building with Watson for 4 years now! Watsons WR is Deondre Hopkins. Some people think the Ravens are the best team in the league right now & that's how you'll judge the HC? This season is about 2 things, Sam Darnold & finding out who stays & who goes, period.

jgb
So our offensive genius needed his second-year, 23-year-old QB to tell him how to run an NFL offense.

Green DNA
It's kind of like getting your ass kicked at school on a regular basis and then going out to the schoolyard and beating the crap out of the smallest kid you can find. Joe W. Namath
It seems like everything adam gase tried to do was awful. Darnold had to tell him what to do with the offense. Injuries forced him to play olinemen that are better then the ones he wanted in there. Adam Gase, just get the he!! out of the way.
Prestige Worldwide
It's crazy. People kill gase for not adjusting to his players strengths. People kill gase for listening to his QB and adjusting to his players strengths. People constantly posting about how the jets have the worse OL in history, worst CBs in history, worst pass rush in history. And how the team has a sub 500 roster. But somehow, in his first season with the team and a QB hes only played like 6 games with, and a roster he had very little to do with building he should have a winning record. I love Jets fans. Lol

Don’t ask Sam Darnold to be a statue behind the worst OL in the world. You do recognize why this is though, no? The roll out typically comes after play action which hopefully freezes the defense, and then, by moving to one side, it cuts the field in half, effectively removing defenders he has to worry about, and minimizing his need to make decisions. For the most part, he can focus on one pass catcher and one defender. While this may improve his ability to make plays, it ought to be concerning that he needs this simplification to succeed. While anyone can recognize the problems of our line, Darnold needs to be able to understand a defense in full, and find the open man, if he’s going to succeed long term. Saul Goodman
A 7-9 finish in spite of all of the circumstances this team has faced would probably be the best coaching performance we’ve had since Rex 2010. The majority of the “starters” are 2nd and 3rd stringers.
FidelioJet
1 hour ago, CrazyCarl40 said: Yes. Without their two top receivers and half of their offensive line. Dallas in a rematch would roll. Also, what happened after that Dallas game? Did the coach take that momentum and run with it? Or did he crap the bed the next few weeks? That's a silly argument. What about the Jets without, arguably, their two best offensive weapons...their best defensive player and an awful lot of other injuries, including their offensive line. You can't give other team excuses for injuries but not the Jets.

Warfish
Time will tell. As our Owner made clear, Gase will be our coach even if we now finish 3-13 this year, so no point making any definitive statements now. We'll see where we are this time next year. And the year after that, most likely. We all know who would have kept him, and who wouldn't. Time will prove those groups right (or wrong), respectively. Basically, Darnold took ownership of the offense 3 weeks ago, told Gase to take certain plays out and emphasize other plays more often. As of 3 weeks ago, the offense has noticeably improved. Yes, and Bell said something like "Darnold became a man" this week and took it to the next level or something like that. It is definitely encouraging. Plus we are also seeing great improvement in some of the young defensive players, and Austin looks every bit like a first round talent at CB. Small sample size sure, but in his 1.5 games he has looked like a pro bowl QB and the secondary has been completely different.
