Popular Post Sarge4Tide
Sam Darnold is currently averaging 223 yds passing per game for his career - the most in Jets history (If he averages 223 yards per game for the rest of the season (1338 yds), he will pass Al Dorrow for 10th place in team career passing yards) Darnold's career completion percentage is 59.7%, 4th all time for a Jets QB with 500 or more attempts (behind Favre, Pennington, McCown) Leveon Bell has 46 pass receptions this year (4.6 per game), if he averages 4.6 receptions per game for the rest of the season, he would have the 2nd most receptions by a Jets running back in a single season (Richie Anderson in 1st with 88, Adrian Murrell in 2nd with 71) Bilal Powell needs 48 yards rushing to pass Bill Mathis for 8th place on the all time Jets rushing yards list Lachlan Edwards has the highest punting average of any Jet with 150 or more career punts - 45.5. 14 1
Popular Post jetstream23
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. It's the least exciting thing to talk about but Lac Edwards is a very solid, consistent punter. As Bill Parcells used to describe, there's "hidden yardage" in the punt and kicking games that doesn't shine in post-game statistics. Things like an unreturnable punt, angling out of bounds, hang time forcing returners to fair catch....those things can mean the difference between an opponent needing to drive 60 yards to score vs. 75 yards. Extrapolate that 15 yards across a game with 4-5 punts and you've really impacted the game.
Popular Post Jetsfan80
223 yards per game passing would be the Jets record? Good lord this franchise sucks balls. Josh Freeman averaged 223.8 yards per game for his career. Blake Bortles averaged 229.2. 1
sec101row23
Just shows how poor the QB play has been for this franchise.

We have had a lot of QBs who really couldn't get the ball down the field.

The hurtful fact is that during the time of NFL explosion of passing yards, the Jets have been woeful at the position. 3
pdxgreen
If Edwards turns out to be Macc's best long term draft choice, that will have been funny. 1

I think he's exactly appropriately rated. Never a bellcow. Injury prone. Solid, but does nothing at a B+ level or better. A RB every team wants but never would make their RB1.

It's a completely different sport now. Favre is also the last QB to throw for <60 % in his collegiate career and have a HOF (or even successful) NFL career.
Jetsfan80
Ryan Fitzpatrick, statistically, had one of the top 3 QB seasons in Jets history (after '67 Namath, '98 Testaverde). 2nd in yards, 1st in TD's, 4th in QB rating among qualifying passers. That's how bad this franchise's QB play has been since the merger.

I've been all over the place on Sam, but wanna place a bet? Seriously, Sam started playing QB about 6 years ago at 16 or 17. Kid was a still a linebacker when Geno was our QB. Mahomes and Mayfield were doing 7 on 7 camps at 10 years old, and had private throwing coaches as early teens. Sam next year will be 23, about the average age a "normal" QB prospect gets drafted, but instead of beating up on Big 10 or Pac 12 Defenses, Darnold has been playing Pro Football under some of those most stupidly adverse conditions the league has to offer (AKA The Jets, lol). Im guessing Douglas recognizes that the Jets Oline is a shot show of sadness and addresses it, and I'm betting that Anderlols isn't our #1 WR next year. And he better not get ******* Mono again.... Combine those things with the dumpster level QB history of the franchise and not having to learn a 3rd Offense in 3 years, and I bet Darnold does break our (garbage level) franchise passing records.
