Popular Post KRL
WOW!!! The Jets went all "Stone Cold" Steve Austin on OAK and dished out "a can of whup ass" as they dominated them in every phase 34-3. The Jets are now 3-0 in the second half of the season and have won three in a row for the first time since 2017. And to add to the "gaudy stats": - They've scored 34 points in three straight games - They've scored on their opening drive in five straight games - They've had back to back blow outs and this one against a playoff challenger Special Teams - Lachlan Edwards had a solid day (47 yard avg). But most importantly he didn't punt until the second half when the game was out of reach - Sam Ficken had 2 FG's and 4 XP's and his miss didn't have any effect on the game. But the miss allows the front office to sniff around for an upgrade next year because he's only 9/14 (64%) on FG's this year - Field changing return by Braxton Berrios (25+ yards) for the first time this year. Unfortunately Ficken missed the FG at the end of the half - Shout out to the kick off coverage unit as they never allowed OAK to get any field position Defense - When you force your opponent to bench their starting QB you know you're performing well. Unlike the past two games which could be minimized because they faced rookie QB's, that wasn't the case today. Carr was only sacked once but was flustered all day, first by his team's own drops then by the coverage of the Jet secondary - The #1 run defense had their way with OAK OLine and Jacobs as they were held to 68 yards. The DLine didn't put up gaudy stats they just plugged every hole. Credit to Henry Anderson, Steve McLendon and Kyle Phillips - The "stat stuffers" on the defensive side were: * James Burgess with 9 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 PD. He's grown as he's filled in for CJ Mosley. Unfortunately he also fumbled a fumble recovery * Jamal Adams with 7 Tackles, . 5 Sack, 3 QB Hits * Arthur Maulet with 7 Tackles, 3 TFL. But he's got to work on his tackling he whiffed on a ton of them * Bless Austin with 5 Tackles, 1 PD and excellent coverage. That's his third straight good game * Neville Hewitt with 7 Tackles, 1 PD, 1 QB Hit - Great one handed "pick 6" by Brian Poole whose been an upgrade over Buster Skrine. With Ryan Griffin getting an extension I wonder if Poole and Jordan Jenkins are next in line? Offense - They ran through OAK defense like a hot knife through butter. Totally unimpressed by them on all three levels, how were they 6-4??? - Huge credit to the OLine as they continue to shake off injuries and multiple moving pieces to provide a solid foundation to the offense. They only squeezed out 88 yards on the ground but kept Sam Darnold clean as they allowed only 1 sack. Shout out to Kelvin Beachum as he came back into the game after hurting his ankle because Chuma Edoga went down. Beachum and Jonotthan Harrison have provided stablity to the OLine and let's be honest Harrison should've never been benched for Ryan Kalil. Kalil had the better resume but chemistry is way more important and Harrison provides that - Two players whose scheme fit I questioned last week bounced back. Robby Anderson had a good day (4 recs / 86 yards / 1 TD) as he caught balls on various routes. And LeVeon Bell probably had his best all around game as he was effective running (12 rushes / 49 yards) and he showed off his WR2 skills catching the ball (5 recs / 59 yards). - Braxton Berrios not only contributed on specials but he almost had his first TD. As he went 69 yards on a slant before getting knocked out at the 1 yard line - Terrific game by Sam Darnold as he continued his excellent play (20/29, 315 yards, 3 TD's). Is Darnold's conversation with Adam Gase about what plays he wants to run the turning point? It sure seems that way, as the offense is now more uptempo, using more misdirection, rollouts and Darnold's mobility skills Good job by the coaching staff and team not to fracture after going 1-7. Now its time to get greedy and not be satisfied with a three game streak. Happy Thanksgiving 24 4

Popular Post ASH1962
I firmly believe that Sam Darnold has rescued Adam Gase. Not only that, I believe that it will not be very long until Sam is calling his own plays and controlling the offense himself. The difference in what we are seeing pre and post meeting with Gase is remarkable and shows Sam's football IQ is really high. Getting re-excited for the future. It took a while maybe for them to find the right player combinations and to learn the new systems. F**k draft position, winning is much more fun. Today was awesome, not to have to worry for one second. Priceless LOL. 10 1
Popular Post RoadFan
First game I watched since the New England disaster. Super happy I returned to see this perfomance today. Everything great save for a couple of things. Not much of a pass rush. Carr had all day on several drop backs. And I tried to single out Quinnen Williams early to see what he is doing. Didnt do much. Then he just disappeared. Really disappointing from him. 3
phill1c
People want to make it complicated. What the difference is: No Kalil No Winters The rest is just camouflage. The new OL have strength AND the center can actually snap and block and not be dominated physically. Now Darnold can mostly relax and know that DL won't be running full speed up the middle from the snap of the ball anymore. He is getting very reasonable amount of time to throw. And that's making the Jets WRs look way better than they have been. Now, eventually, you'd like to upgrade either guard spot and the LT spot. But at least it looks like an actual NFL offensive line. I was most impressed with how Darnold threw the ball away when the play wasn't there. But it has to help that he knows he'll probably get another chance, given how well the offense and defense is playing right now. 1
Nixhead
I honestly think either Gase is reading some of our posts or he has an assistant reading them. We all wanted more misdirection with the offense. We all wanted more rollouts and to use Sams legs a little more with a designed run here and there. Some of us even recommended that the Jets run 1 flea flicker every game - like the Patriots - and they have. It all seems to be working as we are keeping defenses off balance and our O Line play has improved tremendously also. It all looks real good right now. 1 1

Found some 'medium' where they both can flourish? Not all young QB's have the cajones to approach a HC about what they want to do...and not all HC's would be receptive to that approach by a young QB. Gase had the tools in his O for Sam to succeed, and Sam had to ideas of what existing tools i Gase's O were better used to satisfy his strengths. It isn't always 'either/or'..sometimes it's both. 1 3
Popular Post johnnysd
Some notes: Gase is finally coaching Sam Darnold to be Sam Darnold and not Peyton. Sure the "talk" will get a lot of press, but we are seeing a coach and QB come together and that is exciting. It is amazing how positive the subtraction of Winters and Kalil has been. The Jets still need to upgrade the OL across the board, but they are playing as a group at least at an average level for a NFL Maulet may need to work on tackling but lets face it, Maulet and Austin have been nothing short of a revelation. The second Austin got into the game 3 weeks ago the defense has been completely changed and effective. Maulet and Bless are holding up on the outside in man, and the Jets are not blitzing much and there is just no one to throw to. We can officially say that the Jets DL is actually BETTER without Leo. Many us, myself included thought there will be little dropoff but not sure anyone expected his departure and replacement by additional snaps for Shepherd, Basham. Futakasi and Phillips to make them even more effective. If the Jets defense keeps it up, we may lose Williams to a HC gig. He did well in Cleveland last year, and while still not the biggest fan, and think it is largely the Blessaun effect, you cant deny our defense is completely different than we started and really effective. There was not a single Darnold troll post in the game thread. Hard to say Darnold sucks when not only was he extremely efficient, but completed passed to nine 9!! receivers, but he has clearly learned to throw the ball away as well. Kudos to Gase for keeping the locker room alive to see a 3 game winning streak. 7

Not many explosive plays, but no real mistakes and they always get the job done. Was watching LSU yesterday and loved the way the gunners raced to the end zone no matter what - even if it the kick ended up being a fair catch or touchback.

EM31
I know that the 6-4 record coming in was likely very VERY generous to the Raiders but it was still six wins in the NFL. We beat a team that will be in playoff conversations the rest of the way even if they go on a losing run. Honestly this game has convinced me that we are clearly better than the group of bottom bottom feeders in the NFL. A club that I thought we were in once again this year. The offense is showing what it can do with just a teeny little bit of protection for Sam and I am excited to think what a more stable and better talented OL group will do for him next year. once the GM has had an off season to start doing his job. Plenty of other positives today but KRL nailed them as usual. The passing game can be effective without any clear number 1's out there. We will have to pay Anderson and we should think about trying to get that done sooner rather than later. We might even save a few shekels. Enjoy the win everyone. Well everyone except for RaidersFan that is. 1

Popular Post Rangers9
We’re at 4-7 and last year we ended up at 4-12. Of the 4 Ws we beat two good teams and should have won opening day vs the Bills. The past 3 weeks esp today we were the team we thought we could be maybe not SB or playoffs but competitive. The expectation was that Sam would be better and we spent money and added two impact players in Bell and Mosley. And good pieces like Crowder, Montgomery etc. And we drafted supposedly the best player in the 2019 draft (he wasn’t). Look we should beat Cincy next week NP as long as SOJ's don’t resurface. The second half of the season Jets so far look energized.

Irish Jet
By far the best performance of the season. Every group outplayed the opposition. The story of our season is fast becoming the depth guys. Stepping up where the season starters failed miserably. It's still early for some to fully judge but at at Linebacker and Corner we're seeing incredible play from guys most hadn't heard of before camp. Williams is getting the best out of them and it doesn't look too far from a top group right now - Which is great given everyone knows the investment required on offence. The offence is starting to look like the group that I was excited to see before the season. After weeks of literal hell it seems they've turned it around. Gase deserves credit because it was looking as dire as it could get at one point. He's got Darnold playing and our best 3 game offensive streak for what? 10 years? Encouraging. The mad man might just yet make it. 2

The biggest worry though was that this scenario played out with Darnold saving Maccagnan. Gase is ok with me, but Maccagnan a big no. I really thought Maccagnan would leech onto Darnold and the story would have been written.

The biggest change in this team is because Darnold pleaded with him to change to offense and the OLine injuries to 2 horrible "starters" in Kalil and Winters.
