Jet D Impacting Draft

Recommended Posts

Allowing  3 points to the Raiders is an impressive showing by the defense.  They were 13 overall coming in and may move up a spot or two.

They are  number 1 against the run and it looks like they are not as thin at the cornerback position as everyone thought as everyone thought.  When one looks at the age of the players on the Jets D one sees they have built a nice core and don't stand to lose many guys via FA.  The players they are relying on now will likely improve with more experience.

What this truly says is that right now going into the draft the Jets defense is in good shape and this is the year to spend the premium picks on offensive players.  The Jets needs are on the offensive side of the ball.  The Jets should not take any interior DL in this draft.

Lets see what happens.  My biggest fear is the Jets finish strong but miss the playoffs and the dreaded falling DT projected at 6 is available at 14 and they do something stupid and draft to the board.

They Still NEED  a pass rusher... & a #1 CB... the "D" would just be that more solid if they did.... maybe Bless turns out to be just that but it's still too early to know for sure.

Team wins 3rd in a row.
Hours later we now have a thread worrying about taking a DL with our first pick next April.
Why?

It would be a legit fear if we hadn’t fired Macc. Joe Douglas is a different person entirely. No reason to fear the 2020 offseason until he gives us legitimate reason to worry.

Have to treat Bless like the starting CB2 and look for a CB1. Even if Bless ends up a true CB1.

Defense still needs CB's and a pass rush as others have stated.   But OL still have to be top priority.
