New Meadowlands is what you get from design by committee, LA Stadium is what you get when a singular vision is at work.

I view it as two multi-billion dollar businesses who know their customers very well.

Typical season ticket holder likes tailgating more than the game itself, so it has world-class parking.  A ton of it, all very close to the building.  Very flat.  Very black.  Nicely painted lines, nicest lines in the NFL.  You could cool a bag of charcoal on those lines very easily.  Seagulls find them very convenient for targeting purposes too.

Typical non-season ticket holder is too cheap to buy tickets, so need to keep the costs down.  If they're not going to buy $40 tickets on Stubhub or $120 tickets on Ticketmaster, why build a $5B palace?

That's the sad reality of the NY metropolitan area.  Simple, really.  If the fans were willing to pay more, they'd have built us more.

Wonder how cool it will still look when its half empty on game day.

Especially since the Rams look one-and-done and the Chargers are going to be in a post-Rivers mess.

Their new stadium is OVER BUDGET by over 2 billion, at least.

Meanwhile, the Chargers can't sell a ticket, and the Rams needed to win now to sell PSLs, which they aren't doing.   Also, if you are into conspiracy theory at all, that is why the Saints got screwed, and the Rams were in the SB last year.

It's going to be just like Vegas.  Without, you know, Vegas.

The Raiders made out like bandits here.  Rams and Chargers are going to be screwed for a generation.

This has been my argument, always, as to why people would have hated the WSS.

PSLs and ticket costs would have been meaningfully higher.

Concessions would have been meaningfully higher.

Traffic would have been meaningfully worse.

Parking would have been meaningfully more expensive.

No tailgating.

These all sound like things that would make Jets fans happy.

Don't forget, it was only going to have 60,000 seats.  And being just a taxi away it would have had a ton more luxury suites and a ton more Japanese and European tourists.  Instead of bemoaning visiting Seahawks fans they'd be crying about busloads of French and German fans who don't know what is going on.  And, of course, ticket prices would have been insane in those conditions, non-season ticket holders would never find affordable seats.

Which is why I hated that most of the bitching and moaning about losing the WSS, the outraged against Woody came from people who weren't going to get stuck shlepping out to the city just so they could have the best new toy

Just gorgeous, 8 wonder of the world.  This venue was going to suck all entertainments in NYC from Jacob Javits to MSG.  Karma was a b...t to S. Silver.  Liberal of the past used to think big that was why NYC became the greatest city in the world, look at it now, even Amazon bringing in 25,000 jobs could not do business at a grand scale in NYC.

They both paid over 400 million to move.

The Rams are getting sued, and it is gaining traction.   They are going to owe St Louis 500 million at least, plus the 400 they paid the NFL to move, plus the cost of the stadium.   This will cost a total of 5-6 billion.

How cool does this stadium look?  It will have a roof but there will still be an open area so the team will experience the weather of that day.  There will also be an "oculus scoreboard" that will be the first 2-sided video scoreboard that has ever been constructed (110 yards long, 60 yards wide, 4 stories on the East and West and 2 1/2 stories on the North and South).

Meanwhile, we spent $1.5B on an air conditioner.

I've driven by a few times...it's MASSIVE.

Yeah but Metlife is a bargain cost wise to what this is paying. I don't need a 5 billion dollar stadium here, the ticket prices would be crazy. Pass.

metlife is a dump in a dump... & they paid 1.6 Billion for it in 2010... not a bargain at all.

News Flash:

It is.  Because it's #1 in the AFC #2 in the entire NFL in attendance.  And the fans there are the best.  After all we've been put through since 1970, we have great season ticket holders.

SAR I

Construction and design wise IT IS NOT.

It should have and could have been the mecca stadium best in the NFL.

It is a uninspiring  dump in the middle of nowhere that can only be drive in.  The Jets haven’t had their own identity since the beginning of the franchise.  But on the bright side traffic, tickets, concessions, parking all cheap.  Win win for you.

The funny thing it is in NJ.  I can understand getting riped off in NYC like the simple and dull new Yankee Stadium with all the regulation and quid pro quo politicians but getting rip off in a swamp in the middle of nowhere in Jersey, that is crazy.  The irony, the west side Stadium that was planned for the Jets endorsed by Rudy and Bloomberg and opposed by the crooks city council, sheldon Silver was going to be special.

Agreed.  I wonder how much the Johnson family laughs on their way to the bank at the PSL holders who pay them a small fortune to sit in an air conditioner in the middle of the swamp.  Of all the new stadiums, they probably built one of the worst, while still pissing away $1.5B on it.

The WSS was never going to happen.

And the idea any  new big deal fancy stadium os going to attract huge crowds is at this point a joke. Nobody is buying that nonsense ever again.

Nothing can be compare to NYC when it comes to corruption.  Even the rats n NYC are different.  The guy in charge of city council, Sheldon Silver who maneuvered to bring down the west side stadium, a few years later was sent packing to prison for corruption and that is rare for a politician to go to prison in NY.

Remarkably and disgustingly typical for NY, Silver is out pending appeal. This POS will die in his own bed.

The identity of the team lies in its fans, not the stupid building.  You think the fake brick on the front of the Colts building makes them play harder?  LOL.

18,000 Madison Square Garden
18,000 Barclay Center
18,000 Islanders Place
18,000 Prudential Center
42,000 Citifield
54,000 Yankee Stadium
82,500 MetLife Stadium
________

250,500 Total Seats

Yeah, because for the tiny handful of bands still selling out arenas, the NYC metro area needed more than a quarter million seats on a random Thursday night.

No one cares about pocket change spent 11 years ago.  Except those who didn't spend it.  You have an odd fascination with how rich people spend their fun money.

I do home and away games.

You should do an away game or 2 at one of the more elite stadiums.

Easy one for you Gillette Stadium here its 10x nicer than MetLife.

Being you attacked I need to say only reason you went Sunday in the rain was to get the Star-Wars trinkets.

Carry on.

Biggest waste on money in sports history. They’ll make a huge deal out of the first few games with a bunch of celebrities and bands then the teams will fade away just like all the other LA football teams.

100%.  Yes I remember Dolan being part of team Silver.  I almost forgot.  Like you said this stadium was going to wipe out all surrounding venues.  I was so excited at the time and it was almost certain that it was going to happens until the snake of Silver.
