False. Darnold did his job by getting the ball to where Robby could catch it. If you can get two hands and your body on a ball, you can catch it. Darnold threw a duck, albeit a catchable duck, The goat on that play is Robby.

It should have been caught. It was also a duck. His deep ball needs a ton of work. They tend to die.

True, but the reality is Anderson is by no measure a #1 WR.  It's not that Anderson couldn't have been done better, but it's just a laughable concept for the expectation level to be held higher for Anderson than it is for Darnold.  It's really just a matter of some regularly feeling the need to treat Jets' QB's like china dolls.  It was an awfully great rush to point the finger elsewhere on a terrible throw.

It's not about not wanting to criticize Sam. He has to make a better throw. I think everyone agrees on that. But the reality is, not every pass is going to be a perfectly thrown ball. Receivers get paid to catch the ball and every pass isn't going to hit them in the chest. That catch has to be made in that spot. So did the one to Berrios which was right in his chest.

So I guess you guys are going to keep the “bad play by Robbie” thing going for a while, huh?

Darnold threw a poor ball, and Berrios’ was worse, but carry on...

Robby dropped a catchable, poorly thrown pass. So I guess you are complicit in keeping the "bad play by Robbie" thing going for a while. Huh?

Fair enough.  Perhaps it's simply my generally low opinion of Anderson that had me find it a bit surprising for some to seem to think of him as the more guilty party.  I expect better from Darnold.  Anderson, on the other hand, I would certainly like more, but that's pretty much on par with what we've seen for 4 years now.

Darnold was throwing into a pretty stiff wind in the 1st Q.  Probably why the throw hung up a little.

Why the hell is Gase calling for Bell to cut inside?  This sh*tty OL can't make those kind of blocks with the hesitation kind of running he does.  We haven't all friggin' year.  Montgomery and Powell do better pounding that sh*t.   We are coming up two short on every down.
