Woody , Sell the team !!!!

Recommended Posts

So, within two calendar years, the Jets were the first win for a Bengals team that was 0-11, the first win for the 0-7 Dolphins (who many thought would go 0-16) and we were the first win for a Browns team that had lost 19 straight games.

The Johnson's should be EMBARRASSED as owners that they put such a sh*tty product on the field.

Don't forget the Browns game.

teams are making him money and growing in value.

the real question is this: is JD the real thing? If so, we need to give him a year or two; If Gase falters (more) I would expect JD to fire him to save his own job. this team is really bad; very few quality players - we need real players to truly judge Gase (although I was not fan of his firing in the first place).

So, if you think JD is the one - no point selling the team and having him replaced. Either way, no way Woody sells the team unless a) he gets an over the top offer (maybe twice its value) or b) he has a huge financial setback..

What is there to discuss?

NFL franchise ownership is a licence to print money and earn equity, and it requires no real work on the part of the Owner.

Woody is not going to sell this team because of a few mewling fans.

Same way Dan Snyder, the single most hated man in the DC region whose name doesn't rime with "Hump", will not sell the team here just because every single fan of the team would like to see him drawn and quartered.

This desire, while understandable, is akin to jousting windmills.

Joust on Don, joust on.

There isn't a comparison in any way btw Woody and Snyder.  Snyder bought an iconic franchise and destroyed it.  Woody bought a middle of the pack franchise and elevated it.

Not relevant to the point:  Fan complaint is 100% irrelevant to NFL Owners.  They make great money even if, as a few teams currently, few if any people show up to the actual games.

If not for Parcells building up a solid foundation.. Woody would be just as bad as Chris in my opinion.  Woody is NOT a good owner.  Any owner/GM combo that is satisfied with having McCown and Fitz for a 4 year run shows you that mediocrity and 9 wins is all they are trying to accomplish.

The foundation was built before Parcells. The team he led to the division title was mostly already on the roster, they just needed good coaching.  He did an awful job drafting his 3 years running the draft and left the team in cap hell.

When Woody took over the coach be expected had quit, he offered Parcells the moon to come back but he resisted and gave us Groh.  A year later BP and Groh were gone yet they would make the playoffs 6 times in the next 10 seasons ( for context from 1960-1999 we made it just 7 times) and did so with the greatest dynasty the sport has ever seen in their peak.

Woody made mistakes after 2011 and we struggled before he left but we still never had 2 straight losing seasons with him around.  For our franchise that is damn impressive.

We were a mediocre team that experienced some playoff success from 2000 to 2011.  Statistics are always better when measured over a longer period.  We'll just disagree here which is fine but his total record is well below average.

You should be asking Woody to come back.  Under Woody from 2000-2016 we never had 2 straight losing seasons, under Chris we are going on 3 straight in just 3 years

That’s because Woody inherited a roster built by Bill Parcells and then years later had Rex who he subsequently screwed over by trading for Tebow and then not signing any corners

Woody got exposed after 2011 and if you think he has no involvement in the current sad state of the franchise because Trump gave him a made up job I got Theranos stock to sell you

Under Jim Dolan the Knicks have been to two NBA Finals

It’s all about what have you done lately

12 seasons is a long period of time, very long in the NFL.  We were pretty good for a long time and if we didn't have a dynasty in the division we could have made SBs.

Oh so 2000-2011 didn't count, he was exposed after 2011?

I am sure he's kept up on things but he's not making decisions.  If he was there's no way he sticks with Bowles for 4 years and no way macc comes back after he fires Bowles.

Dolan can't even make the playoffs in an a sport where it's almost impossible to miss.  Under Woody in a fraction of the time we have almost as many playoff apps as we had 1960-1999 and as many playoff wins.

You act like Woody reinvented the wheel inheriting a good roster from Parcells

The jets have had one winning season in 9 years and you act like Woody is this good owner

Woody inherited a roster built pre Parcells and tinkered with during the BP era.  It was also old and they were in cap hell.  It's why THREE HCs walked out on us-

Bill Parcells- desperate to win again walked out essentially 3 times. After BB quit Woody tried to get him to come back then after Groh quit Woody tried again.

BB- with his HC career on the line he walked away.  It almost cost him his HC career until Brady saved him.

Groh- guy waited his entire career for that shot then quit after a year to go coach a middle of the pack college program.
