TuscanyTile2
In 1979, the Saints drafted punter Russell Erxleben with the 11th pick in the 1st round. As an interesting side note, he's been arrested a couple of times for financial fraud. "Convicted of securities fraud in 1999, he was released from federal prison in 2005. He was again convicted of investment fraud in 2014 and sentenced to 90 months (seven and one-half years) in federal prison." In 1982, the NFL MVP was placekicker Mark Moseley: https://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-year-the-nfl-went-insane-and-gave-a-kicker-the-mvp-award/
peebag
Erxleben wasn't just a punter, he was a pretty darn good place kicker as well. And in '82, there was the player strike and very few candidates for MVP with a shortened season.
