Thanks Gase, et al for a great season.

The Jets will never win more than 8 games with this charlatan, non-leader of men HC. He does everything seemingly right Mon - Sat.

But when it comes to the showdown, on game days - he & his team always buckles.

This really similar to a lot of threads here. Yet, the use of the with a charlatan is a good get

Sure, lets not factor in Sam missing half the season due to illness, or Mosely (best player on D) playing in only 2 games, or losing about 8 other starters to injury, or having the worst offensive line and corners in the NFL. No way Gase could've been .500. POTW!

Every team could complain about injuries.

5-8 with this roster and these injuries is pretty damn good. This was a 7-9 team if everything went right, and pretty much everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. This Jets team just went into a week 13 matchup against the best team in the league, on a Thursday night, and fought like bastards to get the win. Like it or not, holding this squad together despite all the negativity speaks incredibly well of the team’s leadership

You know things have gotten bad when statements like this are made.  Fought like bastards to win?  They lost by 21.  Had their score doubled.  Pretty sad.

Most of this is about Gase.......not the record......

That famous quote is really incorrect.

The year Rex went 8-8 we got out right destroyed in most of our losses, gave up an unbelievable number of big plays, won two games on last play blunder by the other team.  And yet people were saying it was his best year as a coach, he promptly had two more horrible years that everyone could see coming that did not fall for the 'we are a 500 team!'

The Jets have had a very weak schedule this year.  If the sched is tougher next year expect us to get clobbered.

yes, but i think you need to look at the teams that do.  the patsies were pretty established when brady went down.  the steelers were pretty established when roethlisberger went down.  the jets in 1999 were pretty established when vinny went down.  the current jets are still feeling their way.

Hewitt.

Burgess.

Phillips.

Canaday(?).

Bless Austin.

Vyncint Smith.

Lewis.

Compton.

This is a compilation of third stringers, backups, UDFAs, and practical walk ins due to 10 years of roster management failure.

What were YOU expecting?

I stated before the season that 8-8 would be a huge leap forward. That was prior to Mono, injuries, cuts, and trades.

Sounds like some people here were delusional as to how badly MacCagnan ****ed this team up. Gase is a crazy person and sometimes just... vacates. But the team is seemingly still fighting (after quitting on Bowles multiple times) and even with so much BS, is still not fracturing.

I don’t disagree.  That doesn’t change my statement though.

Ryan only got one year after the 8-8.  The GM sabotaged him in 2014 with no corners.  None.  Zero, and they went 4-12.  Everybody was fired and they went 10-6 the next year.

Every team has UDFA and 6th rounders starting.  The Ravens started their '18 6th at LG and a rookie UDFA at C.  Another undrafted guy is playing FB.  On D, they have undrafted guys at NT, MLB and on the weakside.  They started two rookies at WR.  Our talent level sucks, but we can't whine about these guys starting.  They actually look decent.  It's just that we don't have a great measurable 2nd rounder like Tyus Bowser to sub in for our 2016 5th.  These guys are beating out guys like Bowser and Hayden Hurst, not Daniel Brown and Arthur Mallet.
