Peter King on WFAN today (Spy Gate & Jets Interview last year)

Had a long drive today for work and listened to WFAN for the first time in a long time. King call in and had a few interesting thoughts:

  • The Patriots will lose a pick for spygate 2 but he would be surprised if it was a first rounder. 2nd rounder seems more likely he said.
  • He spent time with Mike McCarthy recently and they asked him his thoughts on the Jets interview last year. He said McCarthy was pretty sure he wasn't taking any job last year. But he knew the Browns job he wouldn't take, he was familiar with the situation. He did want to learn more about the Jets job. Basically said he wasn't impressed with the front office. Didn't name names but he meant CJ and Macc. King said he was proven right when Macc was fired a short time later.  King also added that McCarthy really liked Sam Darnold and was very impressed with the Jets facility.

Peter King is an accessory. Also, this revisionist nonsense with McCarthy is going to be lol-worthy when he’s taking the Redskins job next month

Urban Meyer spent time with Danny S last week. I see McCarthy going to the Falcons.

So getting caught cheating for the 2nd time gets a lesser penalty? Totally makes sense.

Has to be a first and a fine, bigger than last time. I agree.

So every coach  in the history of the world thought mac was a dope but CJ kept him around.

The most important person in a org is the owner or the guy that owner puts in charge if he has a brain.

We are f'cked until the johnsons leave or step back and get someone in here who knows jack.

I love it how so many here take everything anybody outside the Jets says about the Jets as gospel. McCarthy was being vilified by his former employer and was announcing that he wanted the Jets job. Now, after not getting the job he is claiming he was just looking into the Jets job and didnt like what he saw. BS! This is a guy desperate to resurrect his reputation

imo mccarthy would've been foolish to be taking another job so soon after being launched by green bay.  he needed to sit back for a while and make sure it's something he really wanted.  it's not like he needed a paycheck. as for king's comments, consider the source.  he's been a shill for the patsies for over 20 years.

This report seems reasonable and believable to me, but McCarthy should have kept his mouth shut.  CJ could never hire him now.

The primary reason MM did not work out with the Jets was that he wanted too much money.  He would have been a much better coach than Gase, and the money in ticket and beer+ sales would have been worth it to the Johnson’s.

A second round pick would be worse than nothing.

If they acknowledge they cheated and did it in the same fashion they did 10 years ago, just 3 years after getting caught for cheating in a different way - and only get a 2nd round pick penalty then this league has truly become a joke and no more legitimate than Wrestling.

Not to Mike McCarthy: Aaron Rodgers still hates you.

Aaaand, MMs coaching style is so outdated, he wouldn’t even reach 5 wins a year without AR.

Outdated how exactly?  Too many division titles for your taste?  Gase is "coaching to where the game is going", which is apparently right down the crapper.

Gase is clearly not even on the same scale as MM.

Having said that, MM is 6-12-1 without Aaron Rodgers (in 2013 and 2017). Something tells me his FHoF QB had more to do with the division titles than without him. He was an extremely conservative play caller that didn’t want to mend his ways to cater to a FHoF QB. Wanted to run the ball more often than not. If it wasn’t for AR changing plays in the huddle, I don’t think Packers win as many division titles. When your QB ignores you, it’s probably cuz he thinks you’re a moron who can’t handle play calling.

There’s a reason why Packers let go of the greatest HC to ever coach in the NFL. At least that’s how some Jets fan make you believe. He didn’t want to coach in 2018 cuz no one offered him a coaching job! That’s not a coincidence. Even Rex got a few extra years and he had the NFLs all time worse back-to-back QBs.

Cliffs Notes

- Patriots to get away with cheating yet again

- Mike McCarthy thinks Jets are still a loser organization but have a shiny building and pretty QB

- McCarthy says he wasn't planning to take any job last year....after not getting offered any jobs last year

Mccarthy likes a shiny office park type building off an interstate in New Jersey with heat and AC after working in a backwater tundra of frozen dairy farmers and Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery types.

There has been criticism that Mccarthy sometimes left the Packers' facility early. Question really is where the f___ did he go?

LOL at Bradshaw and Johnson. Patriots apologists.  The other guys at least seem somewhat open-minded.

Bob Kraft knows how to buy loyalty and friends he literally had the federal judge who cleared him and Brady on deflate gate over at his Hamptons mansion party for drinks

I sure hope so. Or maybe since Brady is leaving they just sell him out lol.

Here's a nightmare scenario;  Brady leaves NE to go to the LA Charges where he will get a share of ownership and take the Chargers to the AFC championship game next year against Nick Foles and the Patriots who go on to win the AFC Championship and then the Super Bowl.

The patriots are going to be really bad next year without Brady

There will be major outrage from me if BB is ever allowed to coach in the NFL again.

A multi billion dollar, professional business in which the league now has serious investments in gambling.
How can they legitimately send out a coach that has shown no regard for the rules and seemingly flaunted them with, mostly, impunity for the past 20 years.

this has to be the last straw.
