Trade downs never happen.  Certainly not for us in the first round.

And I prefer not to trade down for an injury risk player.  Stand pat, get the best O-linemen at our spot.

No need to get Macc-like and think we're smarter than everyone else.

either way works although the prospect of more draft picks would be nice.

Andrew Thomas, OT Georgia is currently rated as the top OLINE prospect but a lot can change from now up to the draft. If we stay at pick #7 or somehow land a few picks closer I think we would be in prime position for a trade down, accumulate picks to truly have the resources to rebuild. Currently it looks like there are 3 QBs that are worthy of a top 5-7 pick (Burrows, Tagovaola, and Hebert). By the time the draft roles around and the QB hype is in full swing maybe even 1 or 2 more. We would be in prime position to trade with the Chargers, Raiders, Carolina, or anyone else that may be looking to land a potential franchise QB.  If the top QBs go 1,2, and 3 (most likely through trades) , we will be in a great position to draft Chase Young and (hopefully) solve our edge rushing position or the top OLINE player or Wr.

Giants are taking Chase Young at #2.

Gettleman has never traded down. Ever.

I think Thomas is gone before we pick. Chase Young is going to hurt. He will be the next super star Edge rusher.

Great, another Adams for this board to be divided on.  Having one goes swimmingly, can only imagine having two.

Either way, that would be groovy.  Just dont think Thomas last's till 7.  He's one of the better LT prospects to come out in awhile, IMO.  If you were creating an ideal LT prospect in a machine, Thomas would come out.

Every year I call for a trade down and we never do it so I have given up on that.  Maybe Douglas will be different.

They should also try to convert Q Williams into OL to try to recoup some of that 3rd pick in the Nation.

Worked for Brandon Moore.

Should have tried it with Leonard Williams too.  But it’s all too political.  Brass, and the Jets have had the stupidest, would never own blowing a pick that high.

I can see this. But the Giants never traded with the Jets before and that happened this season. Giants need to fill many holes as well so we have to expect the unexpected.

They should take offensive linemen with every pick this year. Darnold needs protection. Cbs and wrs can be patched in free agency.

FWIW, I have started watching tape of the OL and (it's early), but I think I like Wills more than Wirfs or Thomas.

Wills moves nice doesn’t he?  I’m a big fan.  I brought him up a while ago in the draft forum when someone was talking about Leatherwood.

My thing with Wills is can he play left tackle or is he exclusively an RT? I'm not a fan of picking non left tackle OL in the 1st (especially in the Top 15).

Jets greatest needs are OL, developmental QB and backup QB. This team is rotting garbage when Darnold is out.

Love it.  If Thomas is there at #7 we have to take him.  I saw the Mock as well.  McShay Edge rusher Chase Young, and WRs Jeudy and Lamb both gone before the Jets pick so Thomas becomes a no-brainer.  It's only if those other guys are still there does a debate even take place....although I'd still probably take Thomas.

The question is if Thomas is gone.  Do you reach and take another OLineman at #7 who is more of a #12-20 prospect, or do you "take what the Draft gives you" at WR and then come back for OLine in Rounds 2 and 3?

Reach for an OL - if they’re still there. CBS mock has them all going before then!

Wills’ reach and movement will allow him to play LT in the NFL.   As @maury77 said, he played on Tua’s blindside and if you compare him to his teammate Leatherwood, he’s the better athlete and the better NFL prospect IMO.

Ya have to have a trade partner and the Jets usually don't.

It's not happening.

Agreed. time is up. We’re in no position to worry if we are picking a guy 2 slots above where the pundits believe he will go. Best tackle available or Sam gets killed again. End discussion.

There are at least 3 top quality arguably blue chip OT Prospects in the 2020 draft

by the time workouts are over Thomas might be 3rd of the 3

(Jedrick Wilks - Bama and Tristan Wirfs - Iowa are the other 2)

Wirfs is my favorite because I'm a sucker for workout measurable

so there is a scenario where Thomas is not taken at 7, because other tackles went higher

I feel like Bama has has a high rate of players underperforming their draft slot in the saban era.

They definitely do because Saban burns them to the ground for the sake of winning another NC. Just look at what he just did with Tua.

we desperately need o line. We all get it.

But you absolutely have to consider players like cee dee lamb or Jerry jeudy in the first. Especially if Wirfs and Thomas are off the board.  Lamb reminds me a little bit of D-Hop, and that would be hard to pass up IMO. If you go that route, then you double dip on lineman in the 2nd and 3rd

I think it was Brandon Scherff who said moving from left to right (or vice versa) is like learning to wipe your butt with your non-dominant hand.

I tried it, for research. Not easy.

Don’t care if he’s “blindside for a lefty” or not, Darnold is a righty, we should target someone with experience at LT.

He moves very well, especially considering that he stands with such a wide stance. What I like most about Wills is his punch. He seems to frequently hit it at almost full extension and he absolutely stones motherf*ckers when he connects. He's twitchy for a big guy.

Trade Quinnen and Adams for first rd picks

Draft Lamb, Wirfs and Isiah Simmons
