These are excuses.  Parcells would never say crap like this (even if he thought it).  When a HC publicly expresses stuff like this, the players will hear it and take the cue that winning is not expected because they have a valid excuse.

Mike Tomlin lost Ben for basically the whole season.  Has he used it as an excuse?  He's winning with a 3rd stringer.  Parcells won with Ray Lucas.

Vic Fangio who sucks won games with both his 2nd and 3rd string qbs this year

In all likelihood, the Jets are going to end the season going 6-6 with Darnold healthy.  Back in August, you predicted 8-8.  The f-ck you complaining about?

In the end we're going to split with the Bills and Dolphins and go 4-2 or 5-1 at home with a healthy Darnold.  That's progress.  Those are two important steps we said we needed to take this year-  win division games, get a homefield advantage.  Next season, step up and beat teams like the Patriots, improve our road record.  You didn't have us in the playoffs this year.  Healthy, we're going to wind up finishing the year on a 5-3 or 6-2 run.

These are facts.  You want to blame Gase and make facts excuses.  

One more time, to compare the Steelers to the jets, to think two equal team lost the same position player and no others, to not understand that the leeway for what each team can lose is completely different is to admit that you have no clue about these teams.

After we lost to Miami, I thought we would fold and quit on the year. We did a 180 and went on a win streak. Have to give Gase credit for that (and I’m no Gase fan), but you have to call it like it is.

My real issue was the Cincy loss. We didn’t just lose to ANOTHER winless team, we got beaten soundly. We didn’t just get beaten soundly, our gameplan was atrocious across the board. That’s on coaching as much as the win streak was.

Minus 1 or 2 throws I thought Darnold looked great against Baltimore. 

Let’s finish the year with 2 more wins. Let’s have Darnold continue to rise. Then Gase will have earned his 2nd year, with hopefully a revamped OL and overall roster with a real NFL GM. Let’s end the season with some hope and momentum.

But if we get completely walloped this/next week...its going to be a miserable offseason.

Right!  The Jets have so little talent that we can't even expect Gase to do better than 1-2 (the win by the skin of his teeth) against the Bengals and Dolphins. Gase has been amazing this year!  Should be the favorite for coach of the year!

I think Flores is getting a lot more out of a very-bad-to-begin-with (and worse after trading Tunsil, Minkah, etc) team than Gase is getting out of his.  I'll excuse Gase for the non-Darnold games.  But 1-2 vs the Dolphins/Bengals with a (reasonably) healthy Sam is just plain unacceptable.
