I'm too young for that game, but not too old for this.

Got that for Christmas when I was 7

it was the worst when you got that play when the guy picked up a fumble and ran the wrong way

Was just thinking about this one.  Who didn't have this game growing up in the 80's?  Along with your Superman poster and Mr. T lunchbox.

I got this and the original Nintendo on the same Christmas, so it was pretty much the best Christmas ever.

Now this, I understand!

At one point I had gotten so good (plus, Bo was the ultimate cheat code) that I’d purposefully start at the the 1 and try to score. If I failed to score on that play, I’d punt it away, play D, and receive the punt/kick-off and set up at the 1 and do it all over again. I was still winning games!

Slightly disappointed after opening the thread that this wasn’t another “did you play the game, don’t challenge my opinions if you didn’t, I played AAA baseball”.

I used to play this coin-op arcade game Pigskin for hours on end.  Never got into NFL game simulation because I didn't start playing football till later in my youth.  Jerry Glanville hocked the console version for Sega.  Which was just perfect!

i remember having a football game called "paydirt".  as i recall it had a whole bunch of stat cards for each player and team, circa 1974.  i believe larry brown was on the game's cover.

Remember putting on the little stickers on each player. Most didn't go straight, the ones that did were Emerson Boozer and Eddie Bell, as I put on the appropriate numbers, 32 and 7.    Remember stopping to throw a pass, once Richard Caster got open, but that little white cottonball for a football never reached him...

I remember the strat-o-matic game but don't remember this one.

The Strat football was a bit hard to play with the cards. SOM is really just made for baseball anyway with the computer version as by far their best product.

It was pretty entertaining, actually.

I had that.

Call a long pass, the defense defends outside run, Touchdown!!

Yeah it wasn't too difficult to defend, though, with me calling long pass every other down.

... drops back, the quarterback is sacked -- FUMBLE!

It was a great game.

You would shoot the little cotton football at the player ; if it hit the player , it was a completion .
