SAR IAgreed on the high draft choices on D by Macc, but Williams did it without Mosley, no corners, d-line (exception being Q) were Maccs mid round picks who overachieved. Williams took depth players and achieved success with them, that’s great coaching. Darnold going down and being sick was tough, offensive line was shaky at best, but they were so so at best and at times played not to lose the game. Looking at statistics, Williams was a much better coach than Gase and his defense kicked ass!Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
Squirt
The 6-2 finish means nothing. They beat teams as bad or worse than them. Williams did a lot better job with the defense than Gase the Waste did with the offense as far as coaching up what he had to work with. I looked at next years schedule and it is a lot tougher than this years. I see another 7-9 season at best with Gase calling the offense. Could end up 4-12 or worse next year.

It is not a surprise to discover that Gregg Williams is a better defensive coordinator than Adam Gase is an offensive coordinator. One of them is almost twice the age of the other and has twice the experience. SAR I

Looking at statistics, Williams was a much better coach than Gase and his defense kicked ass! There is no doubt that Gregg Williams was this year‘s team MVP. But to compare him to Gase is silly. Williams has been coaching in the NFL for 30 years. Gase for 15. The trend is to hire a young head coach who the players find relatable and who can run an efficient offense. So far, so good. Considering the lousy hand Gase and Williams were dealt, they each came through nicely. SAR I

Your opinion and mine don’t matter. The players support Gase. They never flipped on him. Big names, small names, they all rallied behind him and turned a series of bad breaks into a respectable finish and set themselves up with confidence for next season. jetswin
I don't love everything about Gase, however you cannot deny the absurdity of the Jets season. Injuries, illness, and roster deficiencies were real, not imagined. Gase gets a pass this year from me, and to be honest the names being thrown around right now for other openings leaves me satisfied to have him around right now. SAR comparing to Parcells is classic SAR but his premise is solid imho
