A quick thought on Gase - Tannehill

Fans and talking heads are using Tannehill's recent excellent performance as an exhibit to criticize Gase.  Now that Tannehill is no longer being coached by Gase, he looks so much better...

Tannehill didn't all of a sudden grow a new brain.  He is using what Gase taught him...

We also know that Peyton manning is a supporter of Gase...

What does this all add up to ???

Gases has merit as a QB coach and it was fairly noticed by Manning and is being utilized now by Tannehill..

As impressive as it can look, obviously, it does not add up to Gase being a good HC.

Gase is not a bum.  Gase knows a lot of football.  Gase can help Darnold learn the position.

BUT that does not mean that Gase has been, or is he going to be a good HC...

The Johnson's need to understand that and act before they blow another season out their ass

Great, so after Gase makes Darnold look mediocre  for his career as a Jet, we can give up on him and watch him become a FQB for another team. I'm sure all the Fin fans will jist love watching Tanny beat the Pats this weekend.

Are you saying that now that Tannehill is in Tennessee with a different playbook, new coaches and new teammates he's ignoring most of that and recalling what he learned with Gase?  Why didn't he just use what Gase taught him while he was still in Miami and actually working with Gase?

Because Gase cant run a team or even an offense.  He may be good as a position coach, and that seems to be what he uses to sell himself, but he does not have the tools to succeed as a HC and probably as an OC either

This is not a vote for Gase as HC.  Quite the opposite.

I'm explaining how he's been able to con Johnson with a pitch that professional salesman call "successive issues"

Gase has a history of QBs getting injured from all of his empty sets and long developing routes.

He is a predictable play caller that doesn’t factor into his game balls plan what his players do well or poorly

Sam looked better in his rookie season , better pocket awareness, anticipation and mental toughness

Gase is still living off of that 1 year with Manning

the line was a joke but bell, Powell,  crowder and Anderson is enough to move the chains and manage the game with

bell was in the slot a ton with the Steelers not with gase

we saw the gase doghouse effect with ty Montgomery.

hes trash

He is trash as a HC and needs to go.

The problem is... He is not trash as a personal promoter.

He’s a cutthroat killer behind the scenes.
he knocked off maccagnan and basically brought Douglas here.
the Johnson’s want a combo that gets along.
The depressing part is if Douglas does his job it probably means 2-3 years of Gase because of small incremental improvements leading to 9-7 type seasons

Watch the Giants hire McCarthy or Rhule.

The Giants apparently want to avoid repeating the HC as OC approach they took with their last  two coaches.  That is what the Jets did.

They are looking for a leader of men, like Rhule.

I'll  take 9-7 any day. Haven't won that many games since 2010...a decade ago. But, Gase sucks.

This could be the case.

Bottom line for any HC is wins and losses plus in Gase's case, how many points his unit puts up. For whatever reasons, his offenses have been atrocious in the scoring department post Manning/Chicago. This could partly be a function of bad luck/circumstances i.e. deficient personnel and injuries in Miami and here. Yet 4 years of awful results is a horrible look.

Now Gase partners with his friend Joe Douglas - a respected personnel man around the league - to assemble the talent. There never should be excuses - beginning in 2020 even less so.

So Gase is a good coach (position or otherwise) because of his friendship with a guy who was a HOF-lock long before they ever met each other, and a variety of other QBs all of whom seemed to play better both before and after their time with Gase, never during?

That's..... a theory.

Tannehill completed 8 passes for 72 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT the other night in a game that went down to the wire.  He was a passenger on a Titans bus driven by Derrick Henry.  A good Titans D kept the Patriots’ limited offense contained most of the game.

Interested to see Tannehill next week.  He’s always had talent but like Mark Sanchez, he looks much better with an elite OLine and a great running game.

Even with a God awful line..... a top draft pick at QB in year 2, an all pro RB, a capable #2 WR, and a good slot WR, should not translate under any circumstances into the WORST ranked offense in the league.  This is all the proof I need to tell me Gase is a bum.

This is how I feel... Tannehill has developed from Gase into what he is today... Gase's Play calling still sucks and is also the reason he never broke out as a QB under Gase, Great coach... Terrible OC.

Nothing against your whole post, but coaches who have had Ty Montgomery in their doghouse include Mike McCarthy and John Harbaugh.

This doesn't make any sense to me. So he out it all together only after Gase was out of his life?

Well let's get rid of Gase so all.of our players can utilize what they have totally learned from him.

Sorry pal the world doesn't work that way. That's like crediting Obama for Trumps economy or crediting bush for Obamas...sorry not political, just can't think of better example...

Gase is terrible coach

Going further... So do you credit Tomlin for bell not performing this year?

It just doesn't make any sense.if you think about it.

Good coaches bring out the best and give players thier best chance of performing well with guidance and scheme

13 months ago Gase was having a meltdown because a reporter at a press conference called bs on him saying Tannehill was injured

now Tannehill is one game away from a super bowl

Tannehill is managing the game . He’s not the new john Elway.  or Marino.  72 yards and 88 yards passing. So let’s relax about gase being a sh*tty coach and tannehill flourishing.  It’s more the line and the guy wearing #22.

Good grief.  Don't you get it ??? Gase is probably a good QB coach, but despite that, he cant run a team or even an offense.
