I voted for Janis. It's the little things she does, like the syncopation and added words plus the feel. I am not a big vocals fan preferring instrumental players but her voice was more like an instrument than the others. Listen to the run ups, the perfect individuals steps, her ability to make covers her own songs (not easy)

A special award for Claire Torry for her work on Great Gig in the Sky. Amazing work.

Does Aretha count as classic rock? If so, she's on the same pedestal as Janis

Peter Gabriel, Annie Haslam, Jon Anderson, Merry Clayton, John Wetton, Greg Lake, James Dewer and John Cafferty needs to at least be added to the honorable mention list if not the main list.

Good Poll !

I listened to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway at the gym this morning. Gabriel is exquisite on that album.

As was Hackett, Banks, Rutherford and Collins, all 5 at their very best

So did you like it because it has Lamb in the title or because you have great taste in music :)

Just kidding of course, but you do get my Hero of the Day Award for bringing this up.
