If Derrick Henry Were a Jet RB...

Recommended Posts

Would you trust Adam Gase to use him properly?

Maximize Henry's potential?

Or would Gase force him into his system, underuse him and misuse him. like he did with Bell this past season?

Or would Gase force him out of town like he did with Jay Ajayi?

Funny thing, after being forced out of Miami, Ajayi won a Super Bowl with the Eagles...

Just imagine if Tannehill wins a SB without Gase too...

How ironic...

this thread is not going anywhere... but for sake of 10pm on a saturday and 3 porters in.,...

I really don't know what kind of RB Gase likes. He's had little success with any of them... does he know how to ride horse? i'm not so sure

This is nonsense. Gase did not misuse of underutilize Bell. The fact is, there were a game or two where I thought Bell should have been a little more used. However, the fact is Bell would be ruined if Gase gave him 450 carries behind this OL. Assuming Bell doesn't get traded next season behind a much more formidable OL, Bell will be featured more often and more effective.

Henry is a great player and should be a candidate for league MVP. And with a good Oline he would be good anywhere I think. That's why the Jets priority would be oline in '20 and not just one player. The difference between Henry and Bell this season was not only Henry's youth and superior skill but a better oline at Tenn. It could be a good year in '20 for Bell if he's still here. Unlike Henry he didn't have any plus 20 yard gains his game high was 19. and when he was hit he usually went down. He almost never had the burst he used to have. He also should have been used more as a slot receiver on 3rd downs.

This. He'd probably look a lot like Bell did this year, with pretty similar numbers.

Going to disagree. He wouldn’t look as good as he does behind the Titans OL but Henry hits the hole hard and fast. He’d look better then Bell behind our OL.

Those 3 games over 100 yards . Made him a monster?

Kenyan Drake ran for 5.2 a carry. Other Arizona running backs ran for 4.2 he also had  8 rushing tds in 8 games

Derrick Henry led the league in rushing. He averaged 5.1 with 16 rushing tds in 16 games.

Drake also caught as many balls in half a season with Arizona as Henry did all year.

Your turn.

How did Gase misuse Bell?

Everyone keeps pointing to the slot. Bell was in the slot about 30 times this year. Last active season with Pitt he was in the slot 60 times. So we are saying Gase should have had him the slot 4 times a game as opposed to 2. Is that the misuse?

He didnt. Bell didnt play last year, skipped preseason and everyone just expected he'd pick up right where he left off. Bell was given plenty of opportunities to produce and he didnt.

Gase wanted Tevin Coleman (who obliterated the Vikings yesterday). So I guess he likes one cut backs who hit a crease fast and hard, instead of tap dancing behind the LOS for 10 seconds regardless of whether hes behind the Steelers Bulldozer o line, or the Jets merry band of Turnstiles.

Did you notice the difference between the Titan's O Line, and the Jet's O Line.

You can't run the ball 40 times a game when you can't run block.

Guess you didnt watch the games

Or read the board

The complaints were that he wasn't used enough, not that Gase forced Bell into some imaginary offense that Bell couldn't run in.  The argument against Bell, here, was he didnt change his style of waiting for the hole to develop.

Nowhere, ever, was Bell asked to run differently
