2017 NFL Draft Revisited: Football Reference career "AV" Rating

Take this with a grain of salt, but pro-football-reference.com has their own "AV" rating to assess a player's career value in one number in order to compare across positions and eras.  

Here is the leaderboard among the 2017 draft picks:

Agreed.  Though he did have a pretty good year 2 in the league (24 TD / 12 INT, 66.6 % completions, 7.4 YPA).  

But of course we know that was the anomaly.  Years 1 and 3 will be the "norm" for him moving forward.  That AV score is going to plummet.

Hmm.  So 1 data point is "questionable" (but not really, since they're only using career #'s) so throw the whole thing out?

Thinking of positional value it’s just amazing that Mac went back to back safeties with the Jets 1st 2 picks in that draft.

Point taken, maybe a tad of an overreaction.? Put it this way, 3 years later, would Trubisky even be in the conversation for a 1st rounder?

Having 2 saints at the top kinda suggests that how you develop a player and how they fit into the scheme is as important as the players ability
