Popular Post Tony The Wiz
Hello fellow Jet Fans. First for some who question my picks I am just reporting what I see and what accolades these players are getting. I am not saying every player is a first or second round pick. So here I go. First there was technical difficulties from the rain they were receiving. Also they were playing indoors. First up the offensive lineman. The one on one did not have that many reps but what I did see that Jason Jones rebounded from yesterdays workout and performed great. He basically planted the North Carolina stand out Jason Strowbridge. That was a complete pancake. He also really performed well at right tackle. He got a few reps at left tackle and looked good there too. Also the Connecticut OT had an up and down practice. On the one on one he looked slow but when on the field playing left tackle he looked comfortable and did a good job. He did have one holding called on him so it wasn't perfect. Now for Ben Bredeson. He is a Warrior at guard. You can't move him. Nick Harris I noticed he does have skinny calves but he does have good technique and he only going to get stronger. Charlie Heck had an OK practice at right tackle and left tackle. He is interesting because of his size and bloodlines. Now for the wide receivers. My God how many really good receivers is in this draft class. Claypool looks like a first round prospect and Denzel Mimms of Baylor made three acrobatic receptions. And lets talk about one of the best receptions I have ever seen. K.J. Hill of Ohio St. made a one hand grab over the middle that should make youtube. It was a Wow!! catch. James Proche is another receiver who I watched this year and said he is a player to watch. Well he just showed the scouts I was right. He catches everything. Quartney Davis made a great catch also. He plays for Texas AM We also got to see two TE prospects. One who is high on my list of Tight Ends. His name Bryce Hopkins out of Perdue. He looks smooth and runs nice routes. The other was my big surprise. Division 2 Adam Trautman of Dayton looked like a legit TE. Runs smoothly and runs nice routes. I really liked him as did Todd Mccshay. Now for the Defense Cornerback Pride of Notre Dame and Essang of Wake Forest looked great but number 31 of Auburn looked incredible. I don't know who this is since he is not on the roster. Also Malik Harrison of Ohio St made a great interception at his linebacking position as did Logan Wilson of Wyoming. On the Edge the Syracuse alum Alton Robinson looked nice. As did Neville Gallimore of Oklahoma. Just looked at my notes and I have check marks on number 75 who is a OT out of Wake Forest Justin Herron. And Finally this Kicker just made some money. Another great day for him. Now it is indoors but he kept on kicking the ball at least 5 yards in the end zone and he kicked two 50 yard field goals that could of went 65 yards. He tried one from 58 but hit the inside goal post. He looks like a find. The QBS were all average. No one really opened eyes. Funny one of the ESPN people is Mike Tannenbaum on the broadcast.

section314
Tony......Bredeson there in the 3rd, with our #4 pick in that round?
Beerfish
I am just praying that a few things fall into place for the Jets for this draft. We have the potential to go a LONG ways to rebuild a couple positions in one draft if things fall into place.

The way he is looking he could go late 2nd real early 3rd. There are at least 5 guards ahead of him.

You believe in the AVS? Starting to hear bits on NYC radio from the hockey fan hosts that Lundqvist would fit perfectly for them.

Meh...we will have a "top" defensive player (DL) fall to us in round 1 and 2 (safety( and then in the 3rd after all the OL and WR are gone in a big run we will take BPA at ILB and then "shore up safety again for good measure. We will then take UDFA graded OL and WR from small schools in the later rounds...

He is ready to fall off and his save % is no better if not worse with who the Avs already have.

It is so interesting to see the actual needs these teams have. And not 1 team has a first need Running back and there are 3 first round talents in this draft. This is the most down to earth comment about the draft - but it also happens to be where Mac was so terrible. IMO, the GM's job is not player evaluation, its asset management. After the first 2 rounds, the GM isnt an expert on every player, he has to rely on the scouting department. What he needs to do is judge the board, surmise/guess who will be there and then more up or down accordingly. Mac had NO CLUE how to do that (look at his idiotic mid round trades). There is no doubt that there will be receivers available in the 2nd and 3rd round, there are simply too many. There "should" be IOL and OT's available on the 2nd day too, BUT the entire league has been hurting for OL for the past couple drafts so who knows. I personally think IOL get undervalued, not because of their ability, but because teams take shots on skill position players, which is why guys like Elton Jenkins and Eric McCoy are mid second rounders who come in and contribute right away. Lets hope JD learned from Ozzie and Roseman how to manage the draft as its happening and he can wind up with a Ben Brendenson if he happens to fall to the early 3rd. Thats how you crush a draft.
