Darnold..Best in his Class

Recommended Posts

Watched that with my kid the other day. It was embarrassing. They had Jarvis Landry and davante Adams compete in the same competition and they looked better.

Jackson is going to last as long as he is the fastest/quickest guy on the field. Once he loses half a step it will be all over for him. He's a complete zero as a pocket passer.

I don’t see many deep playoff runs from this guy.

Force him to play QB by keeping him in the pocket.  Just like Tennessee did.

The problem is, only two teams have been able to do that. The Chargers in the playoffs last year by replacing all of their linebackers with faster safeties, and this year in the playoffs with the Titans.

Not every team is going to have the correct personnel. But lets not forget that Lamar made a big jump in terms of being a better passer from year 1 to year 2 and this will be yet another year of comfortability under this coaching regime offensive scheme.

The fact that folks are geeking out on a drill that he was playing in at the "Pro Bowl" says all that needs to be said.

How about Sam Darnold prove that he's the best in the class. So far Lamar has pushed the envelope to being "MVP" of the league.

How about Sam go do that instead of hating on this dude because of insecurity.

Completely hypothetical, but I wonder what fans would like better Lamar Jackson type production (so far) for 5 years or so of Electrifying regular seasons but no better than one game in the playoffs or a mediocre qb giving you a couple of deep runs but neither winning the SB

What insecurity?

As a post above correctly mentioned, once Jackson loses 1/2 a step he is going to have a big problem because he can’t play QB in the pocket.  That will become more and more apparent.

There would be no MVP talk had Jackson been saddled with the same personnel Darnold has unfortunately had his first 2 years.  In fact both his legs would probably have been broken.

Darnold has hit many throws that Jackson could not if you gave him 100 years.

If Douglas acquires some NFL talent to put around Darnold, that 10th Ranked NFL Passer Rating that Darnold had over the final 8 games will trend even higher.

When taking a long view, I think the Jets have a better chance of going further (provided there are talent upgrades around Darnold, that is never a given with the Jets and it will always be worrisome as long as the 2 least intelligent owners in the NFL still own them, nothing you can do about that) Darnold than Baltimore does with Jackson.

Darnold will prove he is best in class in time.  The current trajectory of 10th Rated Passer when having to play with Mike Maccagnan’s garbage for 2 years....that’s a start, wouldn’t you agree?

Now how in the world are you confirming that post as being "correct"?

lol. Stop hating on that guy. He's the MVP of the league.

Not hating.

Don’t you think the “MVP” of the the NFL, means you’re the best football player in a world of 7 billion people, should you know be a little more accurate?  That was an embarrassing display.  I won’t wait for ESPN to ever show it either.

Just to clarify what Lamar Jackson actually did in that loss to the Titans.

It's not like the dude rushed for 350 yards and passed for 100 yards.

Garbage time stats.  He was awful for close to 3 quarters. When they needed a play from Jackson he was AWOL.  Even on multiple 4th and 1’s.

This isn’t even worth arguing about.

Wonder what your excuses will be for him next year?  You can use some from the pariah Mayfield’s bag.

You may call it something else. But when folks say that they cant see the MVP of the league making any deep playoff runs with the Ravens because of his style of play, yet because of that they consider a bottom 5 QB (statistically) the best QB in the class....I call that hate.

No one has garbage time stats to the point of setting an NFL record that has never been done before....while in a playoff game.

Please, stop the hate. This dude pummelled the entire league this year.

Don't say that too loudly around here.  The idea that Safeties could be the best secret weapons against the League MVP will result in stones being thrown at you.

And lost when it mattered most and looked awful 3/4 of the game. He had a great year but sucked in the playoffs.
