A power role, when talking about a town player, is something that distinguishes a player from a "Vanilla Town" player. Vanilla Town means you have no night actions. A Power Role DOES have a night action, typically. The 2 most common Town Power Roles are Cop and Doctor. The Cop can investigate players (1 per night) to find out if they're town or scum. Theoretically yes. But there are sometimes games where scum has a role to "override" the protection. I can neither confirm nor deny that this game has a role like that. But that is the only scenario where a self-protection would fail. Scum might counter claim the doctor role to take them out or they might fake claim doctor to block a lynch and then look at reactions to see if they can find the real doctor.
