An NFL team played a quarter of their season with their #3 QB.

Legends such as:

Kyle Allen

Gardiner Minshew

Duck Hodges

Drew Blough

Jeff Driskell

Brandon Allen

Ryan Finley

All had a good bit of playing time this year.  Luke Falk was the only Qb in the league that personally destroyed his team.

Also, why was Luke Falk on this team in the first place?

Played under Gase in Miami.

Brought here by Gase.

Luke Falk destroyer of worlds!

False.

Wayne Hunter, OT

The whole universe did not say that the OC was brilliant and only saddled with Hunter and that is why they were the last in the league ranked offense ....just because of hunter.

Hunter and Falk were both dreadful.

Falk is the reason according to many why the Jets were 1-7 and why poor Adam Gase could not be expected to be anything better than 32nd ranked on offense.

All of those guys got benched and their teams are picking higher than us in the draft.

Tough to see the pro-Adams crowd take participation trophies such as Gil Brandt top 12 clutch lists. Will you all hang banners as well?

In your own mind.

Jamal Adams NY Jets All-Pro only NY JETS player on the roster, only player to receive any types of awards from the 2019 season.

FACTS

It's really shouldn't be a surprise that an unapologetic self promotional jackass who gave himself the moniker "the prez" shows up on these types of media lists and gets voted to pro bowls.

Self promotion works, particularly in the social media age.

Still not worth 17M

Talk the talk, walk the walk and he does.

Best player on the NY Jets.

Jamal Adams is a very good player, no doubt. - and valuable to the team.

But...a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and $20mm a year is simply more valuable to this team right now.

We already have a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick and $20 million or more in cap space.

Falk was the #3 not #2.  You got a boatload of #2's on that list.  How is anyone supposed toknow that Trevor Simeon is going to land on IR?  You can blame Gase for a lot of things, but I'm not about to blame him because the 3rd string QB had to start.

#1  Adam Gase CHOSE him to be on the team.  "The worst QB ever to suit up for the Jets" was hand picked by Gase to be on the team.  If he can't play at all then that is on Gase.

#2 The last start Darnold missed?  He got all the #1 reps all that week.  Then Falk had to start.  Once again that is on Gase.

Once again, the DC had to put up with injuries and players underachieving and he cobbled together a reasonable defense.  Gase, and offensive genius, faced some similar issues and had the worst offense in the league.

Jamal Adams doesn't play offense.

and therein lies the problem.  we have next to zilch talent on offense.

Extend him now or trade him now.  Not waiting around 2 years just to see him bolt after year 5 with the jets getting nothing more than a 50-50 shot at a comp pick or be stuck in a franchise tag situation.  So AFAIC Jamal either commits long term now or Douglas should try to build the offense with the picks he gets for him.

this is ridiculous.  You're making a big deal over a 3rd stringer forced to play.  Wasn't he on the giants the year before?  There are better battles to be fought than this.  This is just piling on.  No... I don't blame Gase that Falk sucked. I have a boatload of better things to blame Gase for.

It had context in that it was in response to another point by another poster that referenced the relevance of availability related to performance

Before I reread this a third time, it’s clear I was making a joke since a nice dump one morning - and frankly even a not so satisfying one - has more value than 32 games of Hackenberg’s availability.

Jamal Adams' worth has literally nothing to do with who was drafted instead.

This "what if" perfume you guys spray on the argument is goofy.

Yes, but it’s a nice side dish to the wonderful banquet of Jets fan misery. The best player they’ve drafted since Revis is actually a trash raccoon who’s allergic to the football and was drafted in front of the GOAT QB.

Other than the Center, the QB is the player who touches the ball most often on offense.  Wayne Hunter was disproportionately responsible for the failings of a Jets offense in 2012 that had been pretty good (AFC Championship worthy) the previous seasons.  For a guy who never touches the football Hunter was a significant negative impact on both the run and pass game that year.  I'm going off memory but he stands out a single name that got significantly maligned as a reason for the offense failing.
