The origin of that chain of events, as I understood it, was

1. Jets put Adams on the trade block

then everything else happens as you say. That does change the situation.

If Douglas put Adams on the block, you’d have heard about a few more teams coming with their own offers. All we heard about was Dalllas, with a later rumor that Baltimore made a call.

Incorrect.

The Vikings are most likely planning on replacing Diggs with someone they draft in April - like many other teams in the league.

Again, it's all about this WR draft class.

Do you think they're not planning on giving Diggs a long-term deal?

I would think they want a WR to PAIR with Diggs.  This might be what you're saying but its not clear.

I think the point is; he didn’t try to force his way out before that phone call.

It cannot be said that Jamal, out of the blue, pushed to be traded. Nor can it be said that he wasn’t open to leave for Dallas. That’s where we’re at. And none of it offends me, either from Joe D or from Jamal.

So Jamal's hissy fit for not getting his way, and his teammates' silence on the matter, didn't bother you one iota?  Didn't seem very "leadery" to me.

@Patriot Killa went from being one of his most staunch supporters to one of his biggest haters overnight.

He’s human. I didn’t see a dropoff in effort, energy or preparation on the field.

If he gets traded for fair compensation, a la Minkah deal, in order to bolster the offense, I’m good with it. If he stays, I’m down to pay him his value. He’s a good player and a good Jet. That’s my position.

What's his value?

Based on JD's work to date here, that will very likely be a good bit lower than what Jamal thinks he's worth.  And I can't imagine either side budging much.

Diggs is with the bills yea, they overpaid to get him imo. It is a good move if they think the Superbowl is in their near future but it hurts them otherwise.

This was the year for them to gamble with the division so wide open.  They may be able to take it and mount a run in the playoffs.

They gave up a lot, particularly with the draft so deep at the WR position.

But, it remains to be seen if it was worth it or not.  If Allen is the goods, they are in good shape. If he isn't, they aren't.

This is leading towards a new "Trade Jamal Adams" thread.

If you think that's the only reason people dislike Jamal Adams, you simply haven't been paying attention.

At the trade deadline he texted Ryan Clark talking about how he'd love to be a Cowboy, then threw a b*tch-fit when he DIDN'T get traded, comparing himself to Tom Brady and Aaron Donald in the process.  Yet somehow that got framed as him being a "competitor" or whatever.

And here’s the problem, this is total BS.
He didn’t text anyone that he wanted out and Ryan Clark never said Jamal Adams texted him. He didnt take a bitch fit, he said other top defenders aren't being shopped.

And same people claiming they were butt hurt over this incident were butt hurt over Adams way before the trade talks that Adams didnt appreciate

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to remake the secondary and added a big get in the second phase of free agency.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that the Bengals agreed on a three-year deal with safety Vonn Bell, per sources informed of the pact.

A second-round pick out of Ohio State by the New Orleans Saints in 2016, Bell is a run-stuffing box safety, who can smash the hole and blitz with aplomb timing. In four seasons, the 25-year-old compiled 384 tackles, eight sacks, 14 passes defended and one interception. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' top run-defending safety.

While he's best as a box safety, Bell isn't too shabby covering tight ends from his roving position.

Bell played himself out of New Orleans, hitting the market with his price range distancing what the Saints were expected to match. Sean Payton's crew responded by signing veteran Malcolm Jenkins, signaling Bell would be headed elsewhere.

Bell heads back to the state of Ohio, joining a completely reworked defense. In addition to Bell, the Bengals signed corners Trae Wayens and Mackensie Alexander in the secondary and added defensive tackle D.J. Reader and linebacker Josh Bynes up front.

Bell should pair with third-year free safety Jessie Bates in the starting crew. Veteran strong safety Shawn Williams should shift to a third-safety role and/or nickel linebacker.

The Bengals set out to upgrade one of the worst defenses in the league last season. On paper, they've made improvements on each level thus far this offseason.

New Bengals safety Vonn Bell was one of the most effective blitzing defensive backs in the NFL last season.

Bell generated pressure on 24% of blitzes in 2019, the highest pressure rate in the NFL (min. 30 blitzes). https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1242878184003178497

This is going much better than my, admittedly, very optimistic hope of Joe's plan. From signing jenkins, to picking up a line and getting rid of robbie,  the iceing on the cake would be to unload Adams.

Let him get paid for big money somewhere and be happy. Let's us get a 1st for him and call it good.

Turn that into a a premium position, extra line, WR, maybe a edge guy whatever. Honestly  if that happens I would argue this off season has been best we have had in a decade.

Onward and upward Joe!

What if we trade Adams away and our draft pick ends up being the next Dee milliner? Darron Lee? Quinnen couples, Calvin Pryor, Kyle Wilson, Vernon gholston, mark sanchez, Leonard Williams? There are many more ways for us to lose by trading Adams than to win.
