Patriots | Vinatieri not sure of team's plans for him

Sat, 11 Feb 2006 20:33:02 -0800

Tom E. Curran, of the Providence Journal, reports New England Patriots PK Adam Vinatieri is not sure if the team will slap him with the franchise tag again in 2006. Vinatieri is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Mar. 3. If a player already is the highest-paid at his position, as Vinatieri is, he gets a 20 percent raise over the previous season. Last year, Vinatieri's 20 percent raise gave him a salary of $2,509,000. If the team franchises him again, they'll pay him $3,010,800 in 2006. Asked whether he had an inkling on which way the Patriots would go, Vinatieri said: "I don't. That number gets pretty high, and I know that in the past they don't want to be at the top of the scale (for a position)."

I heard BB had a replacement lined up in the 1st round

Actually,he's gonna offer Mangini a 2nd rounder for Nugent. Mangini will accept, then the Jets will sign Vinatieri. Everyone will say BB has gone mad, then Nugent will kick 99% of his kickoffs into the endzone, and kick 5 game-winning field goals, including the AFC Championship and Superbowl, which will both be kicks of 50+ yards.

Meanwhile,in New York,Vinatieri will not have a single touchback and will barely make 75% of his FG's.

Afterwards, mass hysteria will break out throughout NYC over one comment made on a Jets message board by a Patriot fan from Texas...

"Well, looks like Nugent was worth a 2nd rounder after all"
