Josh Norman to the Bills

According to Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network, the Bills have agreed to terms with the veteran cornerback on a one-year deal worth $6 million base value with incentives that can escalate to $8 million.

The move re-unites Norman with head coach Sean McDermott, who was Norman's defensive coordinator during his time with the Carolina Panthers from 2012 to 2015.

Norman spent the last four seasons with Washington, though he did not live up to expectations in 2019, recording 40 combined tackles with one interception in 12 games. According to PFF, Norman had the 12th-worst coverage grade out of 128 cornerbacks last season.

Garafolo adds that Norman spoke to several teams following his release and decided on a deal with the Bills because of his familiarity with the defensive system and the talent around him, including cornerback

on the other side of the field.

Bills can have him.  He is nowhere near the player he once was. His last two seasons, well over 100 passeer rating against when targeted:

The Bills are being run very well and smart.

they have a window will Josh Allen is cheap.  They will pursue it.

The GM and coach are EX Panthers. Seems to me he is bringing in the "known" evils.  Im a fan of the GM, worked with him in 1996 but this move means little IMO.

I think that isn't a bad move for them at all.

If Norman plays half way decent, they have a good corner for 6-8 million.   If he plays really well, and leaves, they can get a draft pick back.   If he bombs, it's 6 million over 1 season, which won't hurt the team.

Ooof. Norman MAY be able to pass as a #2 on the opposite side of White, but he looked truly done last year.

It doesn't seem like he'd be looking at the number 2 spot. They have a need to upgrade there, but seems like he's a flyer (the deal let's them cut him without ramifications) who's probably somewhere in their 3rd to 5th spots.

More importantly, he's competition for them. I really like their GM; he speaks about competition and that he signs guys like this who he may not believe will ever fill a starting role or even be on the roster to make younger guys beat them to that 3rd spot instead of just "you were drafted in the 2nd or 3rd so you get the spot automatically"

I hope so, but playing for a hopeless team may have impacted his performance just a bit....
