With the 241st pick in the NFL draft the New England Patriots select:

WR Hasise Dubois, Virginia

Virginia's Hasise Dubois stands alone among draft prospects

If a poll was conducted asking NFL head coaches to pinpoint qualities that make for a good professional football player, reliability would be high on the list. And with preparation for the 2020 season already under way, front offices around the league are on the hunt for future players they can trust.

Often times the potential a prospect displays on film blinds pro organizations. There are countless examples of players who never full realized their potential on the sport’s highest level.

If reliability is one thing NFL teams are looking for, there may not be a more durable prospect in this year’s draft class than Virginia receiver Hasise Dubois.

According to Pro Football Focus, Dubois was the only draft prospect in the country to be targeted 100 times or more last season without a drop.

CeeDee Lamb didn’t make every catch, neither did Jerry Jeudy or Justin Jefferson. Dubois is the only member of this year’s remarkably deep receiver class to not miss one pass thrown his way.

Dubois and his quarterback Bryce Perkins were a dynamic combination for the Virginia Cavaliers in 2019. Dubois led the team with 1,062 receiving yards to go along with his 75 catches and six touchdown receptions.

Perkins, who threw for 3,538 yards and 22 touchdowns last season, certainly spread the wealth as three different receivers caught at least 74 passes. But it was Dubois who was the most dependable and the team’s best big-play threat.

Dubois also shined the brightest in Virginia’s biggest game a year ago. He had a season-high 10 receptions each in the Cavs’ games against Clemson in the ACC Championship Game and the Orange Bowl against Florida.

Virginia lost both of those games but it was by no fault of Dubois, who combined for 213 yards and three touchdowns receiving. Dubois also had nine catches for 143 yards and a touchdown against Notre Dame on Sept. 28.

In the bowl game, Dubois made a spectacular catch in the back of the end zone that tied Florida, 14-14, in the second quarter.

“You know, on the headset there's basically just one thing that was being said, throw it to Has, throw it to Has, throw it to Has, throw it to Has,” Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall said after the game. “He didn't look open, but to us he's open. So the 50/50 or 80/20 balls, or 85/15 balls that these two -- yeah, it didn't surprise any of us. It just seems like when there's a contested throw, Hasise comes down with it, and especially what we call the blue zone is where he thrives. But you saw plenty of other catches.”

Dubois finished his four-year career at Virginia with 151 catches for 1,859 yards and 12 touchdowns. Before coming to Virginia, Dubois was a three-star prospect out of De Paul Catholic in Wayne, N.J. He was the nation’s No. 112 ranked receiver and the state of New Jersey’s No. 18 ranked player in the 2016 class by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

With the 249th pick The Minnesota Vikings select sleeper WR, Jamari Hester, Jacksonville State

6'7 210  Hard to understand how a player like Hester could not receive a combine invite, on a year when we need big pass catchers.  Hard to overlook a player of his magnitude but these things happen, sure it makes Hester hungry like a Grizzly waking from hibernation.  Type of chip on his shoulder that can be healthy helps propel him to his next chapter. Without a doubt in my mind Hester will be in a camp this spring most likely one with a NFL logo on the field.
