Whether these signings work out or not, it’s been more of an attempt to fix the Offensive Line than we’d seen the prior 5 years. So I’d say that’s a positive. None of it matters if the draft doesn’t go well. But that was true regardless. besides it not about who comparing the new players to who they missed but who they replaced. overall it seems the jets have strengthened the oline although it can be argued the tackles still need to be addressed.

I also love that we are focusing on guys who don’t commit penalties. There were so many times last year that the offense would make a big play which was called back for a hold. It cost us a lot of points I bet 4 1

Greenseed4
Chuma Edoga is going to benefit from this blocking scheme as well. Go back and look at some of his game while on the move. For all we know, our starting OL is already in house. Now we get to build ‘20 depth and for the future; sign players that might need a year or two to get their ‘polish’, guys like Prince Wanago, Austin Jackson, James Peart (ALL second round guys mind you), which allows us to go WR in the first...even if it means trading back a little.

Good point. Defenses could be gassed by start of 4th qtr. If we in fact are going with a 49ers type schema, we need better RB’s While L’Veon has incredible vision and anticipation, can he take it 60 yards to the house? I don’t know the answer to that at this stage of his career but I do believe that you will see a Mostert type back drafted with 1st 4 picks & a Debo type receiver drafted in rd. 2 and again in 4th. Waiting for the draft in May/June will be unbearable.

Man, he's gotta come into camp lighter and he's gotta be all in on the scheme. If he doesn't, he's gonna be one expensive backup.

roscoeword
I don't know who any of these offensive lineman are that we have acquired. The question I ask - is it truly an upgrade from what we had, or are we exchanging laundry?
Jetlife33
I was thinking, is it possible JD brought in GVR to play LG? Seems like that’s where he’s played mostly? Keeping winters at RG and then having Lewis back up both guard positions. LT LG C RG RT 1st round pick GVR McGovern Winters Fant Edoga, Lewis, Harrison, Andrews back ups plus whatever else in the draft

But what does he have to do to be considered as good as Beachum? Turn out to be an average starting LT? That’s not exactly a giant leap. He’s definitely a great athlete and Seattle wanted to retain him. He was known as a project LT when he came out in 2016. Maybe headed into his 5th year he’s finally ready for full time duty. Lewis is a decent starting guard when healthy and Josh Andrews gives us added depth at both guard and center. Not sure how anyone could say Douglas is doing a sh*tty job rebuilding the OL so far, especially considering where we were one week ago.

But then, when the opening is there, has to go from 0-60 immediately, which he can't do.

If we have a season this year, I expect Bell to exceed expectations. He's still a top tier player.

Looking like like JD is targeting a LT in Rd. 1 and might even trade up if he feels like 'his guy' will be gone by 11. The Jets have 2 legit OTs on the roster right now, Fant and Edoga. Neither are guaranteed to lock up the starting gig. They need to draft a plug and play type OT. Expect Robby to re-sign and a WR in Rd. 2 or 3. He's long and athletic but isn't generating too much buzz. personally i think a OT is still in play for us at 11 although i think with the flexibility JD has created by signing 5 OL so far i think he has created a situation for himself where he's not locked into anything. Also I feel like this increases the likely hood of a trade down in order to gain an extra few picks in day 2 or beyond. The team I keep hearing from all of my guys to watch is denver, they would love to leapfrog the raiders and 49ers for the wr of their choice.
