Why do many jets fans act so insecure about darnold vs Allen

Josh Allen isn't as bad people here want him to be.

Going into his rookie season, Josh Allen had the 2nd worst OL, the Worst WR group in the league led by UDFA Robert Foster and Zay Jones. His running backs also averaged about 3.2 yards per carry. He might have had the worst offensive personnel in the last decade during his rookie year. Despite all this, he still showed flashes and completely took over some games.

9/10 starters on the 2018 Bills roster are out the league or backups on the roster bubble right now. The lone exception is Dion Dawkins the BIlls staring LT. That's how bad it was.

In 2019, his O-line was average to below average with several upgrades to his WRs including John Brown and Cole Beasley, who are good but not special. WR was still a weakness on this roster.

Despite all this, Josh Allen was still 6th in total TDs even though he basically sat out week 17.

Here is the truth......... Josh Allen averages more TDs per game and less turnovers per game than Sam Darnold. This was true in both his rookie year and sophomore year.

annnnd the other bill fan pops up. Why are you guys like this? Sam Darnold and Josh Allen would literally laugh for 3 days straight if they found out a bunch of rando’s were arguing about who’s better when they’re best friends and train together every offseason.

NFL scouts are wrong all the time. If the Mafia was an NFL organization Fredo would be a scout. "send Fredo to scout some mickey mouse lineman, but I'm smart not dumb like everyone says, and I want some respect!" - Fredo as an NFL scout

This isn't hard.  Fumbles, even if recovered, matter as they usually kill drives and are an indicator of ball security issues.

With fewer attempts than Darnold

Darnold needs to clean up the stupid INTs and Allen needs to improve his accuracy and stop fumbling.  There.  I ended the thread.

Josh Allen was 10-6 his first full NFL season (He started but sat most of week 17)

Josh Allen went 24/46 had 372 Yards 1-1, in his first playoff game.

Josh Allen was 1-5 against teams that ended the year with a winning record.

Josh Allen went 1-4 after Thanksgiving, a collapse whose momentum carried into the playoffs.

Josh Allen looked like a scared foal in a wildcard game against the easiest playoff opponent in recent AFC history.

@Mogglez @hamat711

Directly from PFF

Josh Allen's turnovers

21 + 22 = 43 - 6 recoveries = 37 times Allen coughed it up to the other team...

...but still doesnt change the fact that Allen did damage to his own team 43 times. Be it handing it to the other team, losing yardage, or killing a drive.

By the same metric, Darnold only did this 41 times. Still proving our point.

Has Allen been better than Darnold? Yes

would I still want Darnold over Allen? Absolutely, no question. Darnold’s makeup is off the charts

but agree 100% with the OP, some people have a weird thing for Allen here, and seems like they would prefer Allen to fail more than they want Darnold to succeed

Irony...

So, apparently you joined this board on Friday. Which Jets MB did you on post prior to showing up here 2 days ago, and what was your screen name? Or is the internet new to you? I know you aren't from Jetsaddicts...

Then again, you seem able to load YouTube Videos to your posts. Which is simple, but to someone new to boards would still be a new task, and wouldn't come so easily. Nor would it be something you would look to do within your first 2 days of posting.

See, here you are, spouting off, trolling the board, but insisting you really area a real, true Jets fan, seriously guys, you really do love the Jets, right? But you have ZERO CREDIBILITY.  You've now made your presence known as a guy that just wants to suck off Josh Allen (lol), and have little to say about FA, roster moves, the draft, or anything else happening right now. Weird.

Then, you have the temerity to attack, insult or dismiss guys that have been posting here for YEARS, but claim you just worry about your "Jets brothers". Please, bro. Then again, guys should know better than to feed the trolls, but we're all bored, so wtf.

So let's bring this to a conclusion. Josh Allen is meh, he's inaccurate and panics in the pocket. It's not a "false narrative", it's a manifest flaw in his game and the reason why he had ZERO Div 1 scholarships and went to Wyoming, even though he's from Central California. I mean, Fresno State didn't even want him. Ouch.

As for you, you are as much a "Jets fan" as I am a Patriots* fan. Took you all of 2 days to expose yourself as a phony. Nobody here will ever buy it, and all you're going to deal with from now on here is scorn and insult. Save us all the time and effort and just go back to whatever Bills MB you crawled out of.

I see Josh Allen’s upside as Cam Newton and downside as Mitchell Trubisky/Blake Bortles.

It will all depend on how consistent Allen can become on throws 10 yards and under. He misses way too many of those, and that limits what you can do on offense.

Disagree.  Calling Allen's upside Cam Newton is an insult to Cam Newton.

Josh Allen is a running back.  And the reason he has marginal success as a passer is because DB's fear his running ability on throwing downs.  The moment he can't run effectively anymore (time does this to everyone, ask RGIII) or he runs into a superior defense that can contain scrambling QB's (Allen has 2 wins against winning teams in his career) he is exposed.

Josh Allen's upside is Brad Smith.  A guy who isn't a quarterback but rather a gadget play waiting to happen.  Brad Smith scored on the ground, in the air, as a kick returner.  That's who Josh Allen is.  The Saints are smart enough to figure out who Taysom Hill is.  Good thing the Bills don't know that yet.

TBH, they both suck right now, but at least Allen can run. He's pretty much a young rawer version of Cam Newton. The bigger question is with the Jets having one of the hardest sos this year, while one of the easiest sos last year, do we end up drafting a qb if we end up picking top 5, potentially even picking #1?

I honestly feel bad for Bills fans.  They're a passionate group of fans and have been miserable for along long time.  They're pretty loaded, seem to have a good coaching staff, front office seems competent for the first time in a long time, have had some good season (fools gold) but the only issue is Josh Allen.  He's the only thing holding them back and I'm sure that has to suck.  We know the feeling all to well.

The biggest mistake in Bills history?

Not trading up with the Colts to nab Sam Darnold.

The second biggest mistake in Bills history?

Not signing Tom Brady last week and putting Josh Allen in the Brad Smith / Taysom Hill role.

Those are two Super Bowl's the Bills just went wide-right on.

Yeah.

These are the dumb things fans of a QB with little accuracy and no anticipation say.

OMG, this is so wrong

Exactly.  Jets fans know this all too well.  We've seen it with young QB's from both sides:

Pennington:  Great during the regular season, choker in the playoffs.  Managed to do just enough against weak teams in October, melted against tough teams in December.  Constant false hope.

Sanchez:  Mediocre during the regular season, great in the playoffs.  Could beat a winning team any time but could lose to a winning team at any time.  Maddening inconsistency.

Josh Allen is Mark Sanchez with Chad Pennington's choke gene.  The frustration level with that type of player is going to be maddening for them.   Sad times in Buffalo only going to continue.

Jet fans were well tuned into the QB class in 2018, and everybody had their favorite and their least favorite. The Mayfield fanboys remain obvious. People who preferred Rosen still mention him as a potential backup for Darnold. The folks who absolutely hated Allen still don't like him. I don't think a lot of those opinions have changed over two years.

I love the blind enthusiasm for the QB these days. It has been a very very rare occurrence in the fanbase's history. It rarely lasts when it does so it would be really nice if this continues all the way through a name on the ring of honor.

The factor of the support rosters is important. Lack thereof stunts growth significantly. Allen appears to have a significant edge there.

The true answer will not be known until after a couple more seasons. There is a tool that is very important and that is staying on the field. I'd like to see that in Darnold.

The biggest issue is that you can't learn arm strength but you can learn accuracy and ball control (see Namath '68). Fair enough but easier said than done.

Don't cite stats or results from the first two seasons, however, it is the health of a baby in the womb. These babies are ready for the world now. Season 3. Let's see if they breathe after the slap. Until then, these talks are not much more than both sides going:

My gal is Red Hot, your gal ain't doodly-squat

Again, that's not true.

If you are gunna include fumbles you have to include carries+ pass attempts.

Darnold has 931 pass attempts or rushes and he has fumbled or turned the ball over 44 times.

Allen has 971 pass attempts or rushes and he has fumbled or turned the ball over 43 times.

Even if you go by just passes...........

Darnold has a 4.2 interception rate. 36 ints on 855 attempts.

Allen has a 3.8 interception rate. 30 ints on 781 attempts.

You should stay away from numbers because you are bad using the data given.

Fumbles - Fumbles Recovered (FR) doesnt equal total turnovers.

It could mean anybody else on the team recovered the ball.

The stat you want is Fumbles lost. The sole purpose of that stat is to tell you when the ball went to the other team.

You are wasting your time with that PFF subscription cus it just confuses you. Fumbles lost is given by most sites for free lol.

Everything you post is wrong.

Everything you post is wrong.

Brother you have a lot to learn about reading stats.

This isnt a stat from an over Buffalo team page. PFF stats are directly related to the player and only the player. Quit making sh*t up to support your argument.

There is no "it could mean" anything. It IS the stat directly related to the player. Josh Allen's stats do not list when other players recover his **** ups, theose stats are listed on their stat page. You can clearly read that on any stat website.

I'm not the one bad at math,

Interceptions + Fumbles - Fumbles recoveries = Total turnovers for an individual player. This is basic football math of which you clearly do not know and you are embarrassing yourself in front of the world right now.

Every time you say everything I post is wrong is clearly debunked. Yet you havent listed any stats that actually support your argument other than stuff made up out of thin air.

I'm talking about INTs and pass attempts.

Simple comments to understand.  I wasn't talking about fumbles.

Stop spinning it around, you cant stick to one area of his game without digging into the need to spin to another area.

INTs were brought up, I said on fewer attempts. Argue all you want

Youre bad at logic bro.  And the game bro.  Because bro, Darnold is the more talented player.  Plain and simple bro
