That’s really bad. We now have not a single weapon on the entire team.   Are we all still in love the JD?

Kinda bummed not gonna lie

I was inspired to write a poem: Thank you Robbie for some decent play But now that you’ve gone all I can say  Is that you were sorta scrawny  SAR I

Good thing this is a DEEP receiver class, Douglas might have to grab 2-3 this April.

Id say youre right, Robby leaving leaves up 2-3 down

Douglas had a value in mind and stuck to it.  It seems like it was similar to the value I had on Anderson: somewhere around $7-9m per year.  That's what a one dimensional #2 WR should fetch in free agency in 2020.

Good luck Robby.  I don't see his skill set being a good match for Bridgewater, but time will tell.

Im in like with him still.  If he makes a trade for a WR I may let him go under my shirt.

You got that from Douglas not thinking that Robby is worth $10+ million a year?

I don’t understand why some people are freaking out over this. This just makes it more likely that we take someone like Jeudy, Lamb or Ruggs at #11 and give Darnold a legitimate go-to weapon in the passing game for the next decade.

I also fully expect Douglas to bring in someone like Perriman or Sharpe (maybe both) in the meantime.

Yup. I'd expect JD to move on a vet WR soon, and we could well see a WR at 11 too. Those stories about the Jets being intrigued with Ruggs are interesting. You could potentially replace Robby's speed with someone even faster, who is also a more complete WR (compared to Robby as a rookie).

Probably.  The only way he would have stayed is if we overpaid him

And we weren't about to do that. I really wanted Robby back but there IS a limit . JD figured he just wasn't worth that much. I'm thinking that even if the money was equal he still might have gone to Carolina to save face.

I’m sorry but that is a deal we should’ve offered him. Our best wide receiver is now gone. Is he Jerry Rice? Hell no. But now we literally have to rely on Quincy and he’s not even cleared yet.

The idea of taking a tackle in the 1st round is thrown out the window.

He was a solid player for us but he's not irreplaceable - he's a straight line deep threat. Unfortunately for him he's not going to a team that will be any good and showcase his skills

he's going to a team that has a real threat at RB...   unlike here

Jets couldn’t match that! JD better have something up his sleeve for the WR position

The Jets have the worst skill position players in the NFL outside of Bell and it is not even close!!!

If JD doesn't turn this around quickly, then we are wasting Sam Darnold.....

The 'Beerfish' plan was to take at least two wr in this class and two oline.  Some guy we pick in the 4th round this next year will make us forget about Anderson.

Yup.  This is one of the deepest WR classes I remember.  Even if we go OL at 11 we can grab two good WR at 48 and 68

I hear some folks saying CeeDee can replace Robby but I was more in line with him replacing Thomas who seen way to many snaps.

With all that said I'm not going to sound like the bitter crew all iver this thread lol. Thank Robby and enjoy the Carolina beach.

Oh were definitely trading for OBJ now

Later 3rd or the 4th rd. pick. Those 1st 3 picks will be a combination of OL, WR OL.

I do not want to go higher than that for OBJ.

so robbie got away.  it's all good man.  the only downside i see is maybe the jets become a little more limited as to the first pick.  if they were able to re-sign him then maybe they don't think so much about going wr with the 11 pick.  i suppose if they sign perriman they get a player of near equal ability and then can go wr in round 2.  i also suspect they'll re-sign thomas.  it's not going to be such a good receiving corp without some better talent.

I think JD could go about this in a few different ways, one being sign a Jason Peters type/trade for Trent Williams and then go best available receiver at 11.

I’d hate that, personally. But it’s a path

It’s a deep class, but the Jets are also terrible at drafting that position. Hopefully JD knows what he’s doing, but I think this was a miscalculation on his part.

"Best" WR isn't the same as "Good" WR.

We'll be ok.  JD isn't making a habit of giving large contracts to undeserving players, and that's a very good thing.

Are we trying to tank for Lawrence? No corners, no o-line, no wrs. Either Douglas is betting on nailing every pick of the draft or he is straight up planning on tanking next season.

This!!!!

I’m not even saying it’s a bad strategy, just that it’s pretty clear to me the plan.

Can we please stop the whole “the jets Are bad at drafting receivers” thing.  It’s a new regime give them a chance.  I’m sorry I liked Robby he other than being a deep threat he didn’t  offer much else.  Yes I liked him but we most likely would have had to overpay him because of his connection to Rhule

Yup.  I'm ok with him walking for that price.  Best of luck to Robby.  We can get Perriman for a fraction of the price and draft 1-2 studs in a loaded draft.

Exactly. Like Robby but at that price...see ya.

Yup.  Barring a trade, I would expect to bring in two WRs.  A youg guy with upside Perriman, Sharpe, Robinson and maybe a more experienced vet, perhaps bring back DT on a cheap 1-yr deal.  Add in a top draft pick and we should be okay.

No way we go into the season with the same depth chart at WR that we have now.
