Why is everyone so ready to give assets, herndon aside,  and pay Trent Williams $18-$20 mil when he hasn't played a full season in 6 years?  That guy scares the hell out of me. Especially after he showed he'll happily sit at home if he's not happy about something. Seems like he has the potential to find an issue to complain about if he's got some good old fashioned guaranteed cash in the bank.

Is it the zero sacks given up over his entire career?   LMAO!!!

Im not saying I would do it but it seems likely bc of how much they've put into the line this off-season.  To leave a gaping hole at tackle in the hopes a LT falls to you doesn't seem like a great plan.

Brees, Thomas, Kamara (if healthy) and Cook are probably the closest you get to KC's weapons.  Very good call.  I can't think of another team that's even near to as good as the Saints, let alone KC.   I guess if I could convince myself that Prescott wasn't just an above-average QB I'd say DAL was pretty close with Zeke, Cooper and Gallup.  Am I missing anyone?

Atlanta has Ryan, Jones, Ridley and Gurley. That doesn't suck.

Maybe not, but I doubt JD is done. I'll begin to allow a touch of worry when Peters is signed elsewhere. I think we're sniffing around his door for sure. I just think he may asking for more than JD wants to pay him. But he was the 8th rated T last year even at his age.  How would you feel if we nabbed Peters going into the draft?

I'd feel good about it.  At least they wouldn't be backed into a corner.  Although my gut, which is large, tells me that Peters signs with the Redskins,  they drop their asking price and Williams gets traded.

Interesting. Is that purely gut or have you seen anything hinting toward that end?  I haven't seen that but the intradivisional stuff is real and players like to do that. We see it all the time. It would make sense.

The Douglas connection is what I'm leaning on here. being the OL specialist we all hope he is and being with the Eagles, I think there's a chance.  Pay the guy $10 mil and let's go!

I am really against the Williams trade idea. I want to see what Douglas can do in the draft. Crapshoot or not i want to see it. I want to know what we have with this guy. The more picks the better to evaluate.  Could you imagine if we actually have a Gm that is good at it?  oh lordy lord!

John Keim, who is a local reporter reported that Peters and the Redskins have talked although he specified no deal is imminent.  Personally I could see it happening.  It makes sense from their perspective.

If JD figured a way to trade for OBJ & than drafted Ruggs & Hellaire?

AND HERNDON DOES STAY HEALTHY?

OBJ, Ruggs, Crowder, Perriman, Doctson, Herndon, Griffin, Bell, Hellaire?

I would say that a pretty damn good lineup & depth on offense.

Right now..... He’s Johnny Mitchell.. He needs to change the narrative.

This is what we know for sure, these guys won't wait for Herndon to catch up. He needs to come out ready or this Jets bus will leave his azz behind & the resigning of Griffin & Brown proves it.

Doing QB, top 2 WR and top TE, instead of the big 3 (QB, RB, WR) as that metric seems outdated in this pass-happy NFL era. Not set in stone as apparently Watkins is headed outta KC, and the Jets will be adding a talented WR. But definitely sobering:

Darnold, Crowder, Perriman, Herndon

Mahomes, Hill, Watkins, Kelce

One hopes Perriman stays healthy and is the player he was those last 5-6 games Tampa '19 - and not who he was the prior 3 plus seasons. Hope is always a good way to build a team.

TE: obviously has become a premium position. KC, SF, NE, Philly - most recent SB participants have had a very good - great TE. Maybe if the '18 Rams had an elite TE like Gronkowski making a huge play late, they're the ones win the Super Bowl. I've seen some mocks having the Jets taking a TE day 1 - fine by me if the Jets pick up an extra day 1 pick, and the value is there. Herndon and another TE weapon could be interesting.

The mere comparison of the Jets top 4 to KC is ludicrous. KC has the Jets by a country mile. Wow, what a homer haven this message board is.

johnny mitchell had some real talent.  too bad his head wasn't screwed on tight.

He did. Remember that great game he had vs the Eagles when Boomer was QB? It will always be the Eric Allen game because of that great INT return, but Mitchell was a stud. Alas for us, fools gold?
